Minimap/Vehicle Name Skin Suggestion

I remember a while back, when 0.61 was released McGibs made a new skin for the menu, server browser and all the ingame icons such as the health bar and position sign. But, the minimap never received the same cosmetic treatment:

So, what I'm wondering is will it ever have the same green and brown rust look like many of the other icons on the heads up display?

It's not essential, but it looks nice none-the-less. it just makes everything look more polished off I guess.

Also, when you enter a vehicle now the name appears over it's health bar in red, this is a good idea but it's a bit of an eye sore:

I was wondering if the dev team could produce something similar to what the Battlegroup 42 team made, I'm not saying copy it but perhaps use the same type of font (that WWII military font type thing) it looks a lot better:

Like I said, it's not a big thing but it just makes everything look a lot more finshed off. Would it be hard and take a long time to implement? McGibs did a great job and I was just wondering if someone could finish it all off.

I prefer the red text. it's clean, has few extra details and is very easy to read. that BG-style was noisy.

only thing I could see is experementing with black or maybe grey text. I think the bg is even harder to read though, and I think the FH font is better as well.

You guys could just use the trademark FH font, "Interplanetary Crap" or whatever. But it's fine as is, I don't really care.

I love these cosmetic changes that make the mod more polished/complete. No one who just downloads the mod knows if the missing p3 is even supposed to be there, and most likely they won't even know what it is. But they will definatelly notice the inconsistencies in available icons.

I love the fact that i know what vehicle i am in, but the current red tex is, IMHO, just too bulky. I am not saying that BG's text is easier to read though...

The font is hard to read when small.

And only a little thing... I think a little thing is something different than to change more than 200 icons...

If I knew how to, I would, you know that. I'm not bringing it up because I'm picky, it's just that the little things like the name font and colour give a good impression of a mod. It makes people say "hey, they really pay attention to detail here" and whatever.

Bugs, I'm not talking about font size, but about the style of the font itself, I dunno why but the current font keeps reminding me of 0.5 for some reason. That's not a bad thing exactly, but if we can have excellent health bars with all the gun calibres on and stuff, then why do we have bulky red writing? Sometimes it's difficult to read because it's out of focus.

When I say it's a 'little thing' I mean it's not as important as something like a Panzer III or a proper Bocage map, I'm not talking about the time taken to do it and such. So please dont get confused with the terms there.

Anyway, if you dont change the font then that's ok, but at least consider the minimap modification I mentioned. No one seems to have answered that one, but it was my main point.

I think the weapons/ vehicles naming & icons are excellent. They've made them a lot more noob friendly.

ya i agree, small changes like that make you feel like its profesionally done. I'm not that kind of guy who gets all excited and screams at the top of his lungs to see a panzer III or something (i still get excited) i just like to see things get polished up, but something like this would be pretty cool.
A pretty nice font would be the one on all the loading screens to name the vehicles, and even a better hud like bullet holes on steel or something. And on the edge of the hud the Forgotten Hope logo. It will make you guys look like pros.
ya its kinda boring just renaming all the damn names with diferent fonts, but you got alot of time, i mean just do 30 names a week and you'll be done by the release of .7 or something.

Personally i would like to see better animations on weapons and such, simple edits. But thats a pain just to do, but once again, you have lots of time.
Can't you just import animations from battlefield vietnam? (if you guys can) cuz you can use the motar animation and other things. And for holding deployable machine guns, maybe use the AT holding anime but with just one hand holding the MG and the other hand just moving like hes running instead of using the mines anime.

But im getting way off topic, anyways you dont have to do this, but it would look really nice to have things like this.
ty once again, we are lucky to even have a mod like this! :bows:
