Talking suggestions

First, I must say that this game is the best BF 1942 mod out, including Desert Combat and DC Extended. I can see how the developers really took their time in making the game more realistic. There are some suggestions I have, however:
* allowing target reticle not to bloom with AT weapons when crawling prone. Or fast reticle recovery when you go prone.
* zoom ability on fixed machine gun nests. I REALLY wish you would put that in. MG guys look down the sights when firing. Similar sights to that of other guns in the game.
* While I'm thinking about that. How about iron sights on all weapons? That would take thse 500 meter shots out of the way, except for the one or two snipers on the team.
* remove name tag ID's. That way tanks could camoflauge themselves better. The uniforms are so well done, it begs to have people hide in shrubs to camoflauge themselves.
* increased and different types of damage to tanks depending on hit location. (i.e. shooting at treads makes disabling a tank possible. no movement but can still fire. random chance that at weapon penetrates hull, wounding crew. clouds of smoke come from tank...or fire... shots from back of tank or sides more effective than front shots. back shots much greater chance of kill.)
* allow bazookas and shreks to reload at ammo box. or if you want to be really realistic. Allow zook reloads at boxes and allow shreck pickups - the whole shreck at ammo boxes)
* put the medic class back in. Allow medics to get points for healing people. allow for greater teamwork.
* allow more classes to have binocs. atty can't be used without them.
* limit snipers on team, instead of hiding kits
* allow planes to be more maneuverable. I have logitech 3d pro and I can't even turn fully without hitting a hill. The planes in wwII didn't turn on a time, but they weren't unweidly pigs either.
* allow a few keys for text message macros. (i.e. alt-f1 I can program something that I type all the time like, "flank right" or "use grenades").
The MAYBES:
* allow engineers to build structures (i.e. trenches or pits, or repair damaged guns, lay barbed wire). Probably tough to mod but would be neat if possible.
* Flamethrowers for germans. Maybe put them on APC's or make a unit. another tough one to mod.
*Get rid of knives for all units and give them a specialized item that their class gets from ammo boxes (i.e. medic kits, extra ammo, anti perssonel mines, anti tank mines, scope for gun, trip wire mine, flak jacket).

The problem with Iron sights is trying to make them look good (Xww2 has iron sights but they dont the look so nice) and animate them so it looks like the player is actually moving the gun up to aim.

alot of these things have already been suggested before.


NEVER TAKE AWAY MY KNIFE! Its one of the best parts of the game when you knife a couple pubbies.

DC didnt really work hard the make their mod at all animations are the worst ever, tracks are like 2 feet away from the tank, u can see the gears in the treds are pretty much floating like on that US tank with the AA gun (forgot what it called

1) an AT weapon blooms when crawling prone because you cant crawl without using your arms in full motion.

2) all people looked down their sights in real life.

3) a dev was testing this but decided it wasnt working well and better work could be put elsewhere.

4) tags are controlled by server but most servers now set freindly view distance to low-med and enemy to none.

5) there is already hit location damage on tanks implamented. i dont think they can code it to hurt the crew though.

6) they have some faust kits in boxes somewhere but for rest, idk...

7) you cant set it so that healing someone gives you points. Although im looking forward to this in BF2

8) personally i couldnt care less about sniping in BF1942 engine, but the ones hidden were rare to see in rl.

9) plane physics are fixed in .62

10) dont know anything about text message macros...

11)any fire of great quantity causes a great deal of lag

12) you cant take away the knife!

1: tweaked for .62. The AT crosshairs no longer bloom when turning, and they close a bit faster.

2: stationary MGs are coded as vehicals, not infantry weapons, so making a zoom is quite difficult (it canbe done though). I dont see it adding too much to gameplay. Just squint and hose

3: I was working on iron sights, but decied to give that up. My time can be better spent skinning and modeling.

4: this is a server side setting. The mod cant do anything about about that.

5: Tanks do have location damage. Hower making a tank disabled by blwing its treads off is just short of impossible.

6: ... they can reload at ammo boxes.

7: See one of the many medic related threads, to see why medics are not in FH

8: Officer's are pretty common, and theyres sniper kits on most maps.

9: Hideing them is much better.

10: planes have been tweaked in .62
