Re: Simulating vehicule breakdown , fuelshortage Repair pads can be used as refuel points....the fuel drums and tanks are already there since battlefield 1942 was first released ;) It would be fun if all vehicles would use fuel. Most players will not be affected by it at all, since they die in less then a minute anyway. But in large (desert) maps it would pose an extra challenge if you drive around a lot and survive for longer amount of time. Aircraft ofcourse use fuel faster, maybe it would be nice to have to land to refuel once in a while, lets say flying the whole map around three times or so, but not refuel it on the fly as rearming can be done. Fuel is no problem to implement.....it is in battlefield SW, the Natter rocket plane uses it. That code if not copied 1:1 can be reverse engineered since it is available. Overheating and breakdowns may be too disturbing for gameplay......no one likes his tank or plane to quit working in the heat of battle, and then get blown up. It is diffrent then fuel usage, since breakdown cannot be prevented, unless it is a result of overheating. But german tanks did not overheat that fast, german tank drivers were instructed not to go over 2000 tpm on their Maybach 230 engines, while they could do 2500 tpm max.....unless in extreme emergencies where it would not matte the engine would be wrecked......so time has nothing to do with overheating a Tiger II. |
