One thing I like from traveling westwards is that you can save time if you travel between timezones.
Indonesia is roughly as wide as US continental landmass, so we naturally have 3 different time zones, West, Central and East. I've been to all of them. But most populated ones are in the West zone. While all other economically significant countries lies within the same zone with the Central (e.g. Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc).
But look at China. Those people waking up in Sichuan or Tibet would never see the sun rising from their windows. And Russia has no daylight saving time? That is badass. I've experienced them twice when I was in Sydney. It is great to wake up an hour later, especially in the middle of unfriendly winter.
But so far, I've seen that our time zoning (UTC + 7) in Jakarta is pretty much the best. We see the sun rises exactly at around 5:45-06:10 and sets around 17:50-18:15. For me, that's the definition of perfect timing: the sun rises at 06:00 and sets at 18:00. The more accurate, the better. How about you guys? |
