I remember from Fawlty Towers ages ago that John Cleese had some slur about Spaniards. Didn't he have a Spanish bellman that he always abused constantly with all manner of insults? Okay, I guess his character abused everyone with all manner of insults. But it seemed by the laugh track/audience that a Spanish accent was supposed to be hilarious - it didn't translate well to the US, and just seemed dumb.

He was a Catalonian Bellman, and Cleese spoke normal Spanish, so they had incredible trouble communicating.

And I donno, I liked it. That bellman was an awesome character.

Well, there were only 12 ever made. And as far as I can remember, they originally planned to stop it there after the first six, because people apparently didn't like them as much.
