"Mow The Lawn"

BUUUUUUWAAAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAAA!!!!!

http://www.boingboing.net/images/mowlawnnnnn.jpg

This is a musical UK(?) ad for Wilkinson Sword Quattro for Women "Bikini Razor". Introducing that international hit, "Mow The Lawn" - Wilkinson Sword: Mow the Lawn | Creativity Online

Incredible ad. Catchy song and, uh, interesting lyrics:
Whenever I see a weed,
I mow that rascal down;
So all that's left for me to see
are tulips on the mound
Sheesh! Imagine watching that one with your girlfriend's parents.

Not only that, but unbelievable racial stereotypes "Some bushes are really big." (by a black girl).
"Some gardens are mighty small" (by an Asian girl)

What spamming? Spam is posting an aimless post like.

"I like cheese"

What jummy is doing is a classic part of FHOT culture, finding something incredibly hilarious, and sharing the wealth, that we may discuss it.

In terms of the video, that is simply epic. Normally you just see here things about the "bikini area" in commercials, never going THAT far ;)

Really? I've never watched Asian pr0n - or been with an Asian girl. So I wouldn't know. Apparently the Wilkinson Sword Company, Women's Bikini Razor Division, thinks Asian women have "small gardens", and also assumes we know it too.

The closest I ever came to knowledge was when I was in Washington D.C. for some training in the 80's. (Yikes!) Among the attendees was a very nice young Chinese lass from San Francisco. We palled around for the couple of weeks we were there. We got a little drunk at that famous rooftop bar at the Hotel Washington that's just across the Tidal Basin a couple of hundred yards from the Jefferson Memorial, well known for it's great close-up views at night.

We're talking about our relationships back home (both single). And she tells me I was good looking. I didn't quite know what to do next. I was young and didn't know whether this was an invitation or what. But I was new, a baby federale, and I had gotten all the lectures about how we weren't supposed to dip our pens in the nation's ink, so to speak - even though the ink bottle was as big as a swimming pool because there were like 400,000 female federal employees then, and were potential dip-ees - so I realize now that sentiment didn't really apply to the situation. Those were the days before sexual harassment training got big. So things actuially were a little looser. At least it was acceptable - or not a firing offense - to tell a female you barely knew, as sort of a joke, to "shut the eff up, bitch". But it could put a chill on things even at a bar even if your job wasn't in jeopardy.

But that didn't have anything to do with the Chinese girl. So her "You're a good-looking guy" is hanging in the air, and I'm confused. Does she expect me to follow up? If she doesn't, will she be offended if I do? But if she does, will she be offended if I don't? Questions, questions. And I might have been a little unclear on whether those Chinese girls really did have horizontal access after all.

So I let it pass, and we never got together. To this day I still don't know what an Asian garden looks like....maybe even which direction it grows. ;)

Well that made me laugh. Can someone get the full lyrics? I missed some parts.

And threads like these made up alot of the posts in U&R and still you dare to say that is spam.
The other posts where about Empire: Total War.

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

This is currently horrifying my girlfriend. Who is Asian, incidentally. But not what you yanks would call Asian, she's a Parsi from Pakistan. But being Parsi she naturally hails from 'proper' Persia.

jumjum April 4th, 2009 03:07 PM

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

Maybe I'm wrong, but I always considered "Asian" (for purposes of these kinds of discussions), to exclude India/Pakistan. I would refer to girls from there as, well, Indian, Pakistani, etc. And I would consider "Asian girls" to be from China and to the south and east.

Your gf has seen these ads? Jeez I can't think of anything more excruciating than to be having a nice family evening with the family and the gf watching telly, and "BANG!" out comes the landscapers. Give me a " for heavy flow days" ad anytime over the Bikini razor song. Although the condom ads can get, uh, sticky, too.

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

I think most people think of East Asians when they hear/talk about Asian people (China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam. Korea, ..., etc.).

And what's this bit about horitzontal access? Never heard such "rumors". I can imagen a thing or two (err.. just one actually... girls have a vertical access point) but I can't think of a reason why they would speak about horitzontal access. :p Oh wait... you mean, those eyes are small and horizontal so... I think I get it... alright... :uhm: heh.

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

Well, in the UK it's the opposite - if you're from south-Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka) you're considered Asian. If you're from east-Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Thailand etc) some would call you Oriental but most will just say Chinese/Japanese or whatever. Or indeed just call you Chinese/Jackie Chan regardless of where you're from.

The focus on India as 'Asia' probably stems from the days of the Jewel in the Crown of the Empire.

Admiral Donutz April 5th, 2009 04:07 AM

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

Well we had Indonesia so most of the references to Asia actually were to that part of Asia. So obviously people think Indonesia and "nearby" countries when speaking of Asia. An Asian restaurant overhere is often either a Indonesian/Chinese restaurant or Japanese restaurant.

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

And India, Pakistan, etc. is just Indian for us. They got their own continent =p

jumjum April 5th, 2009 11:07 AM

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

IIANM, technically India is a "sub-continent". But it certainly has enough people to be an entire continent.

I think I would love to travel the Kashmir, and the Northwest mountain ranges. Does that include the Himalayas, or is that monster range more to India's due north?

I love the mountains and snow. I'd pick the US or Canadian Rockies, maybe even the Alaskan Brooks Range, to live in over any other environment on earth - even the Hawaiian islands. Althougn if I thought there was such a thing as an undeveloped, unspoiled part of Polynesia that resembled Tahiti when the Europeans discovered it, that might be my "vacation home" for 2-3 months every year. But I'd actually want at least a couple of months of winter in the high mountains! I suppose those who have lived through a winter in the Rockies or Alaska think I'm crazy. And maybe I like it because I've never done it. But I'd love to try.

How about the alps Jummy? Like the upper reaches of Austria or southern france?

jumjum April 5th, 2009 12:15 PM

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

Ooooh, I forgot the Alps! Definitely! I might have a new preference. Probably German or Swiss side, but we'll see how badly they might want the jum in the French or Italian Alps. One of my darkest secrets: I've always lusted after Adolph's Berchtesgaden. Well, it's been blown up for over 60 years, but I loved the views from the portico whne it was still there.

Exactly what the inquisitive and far-ranging mind of a healthy guy should be interested in knowing. Here we'll talk about North Korean nuclear missiles...and then women's "bikini razors". Who's to say which is more vital to the future of civilization?

Moose12 April 5th, 2009 05:33 PM

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

I think I know the reason behind our offtopic style of posting, its because we are to lazy to read the whole thread, so when jumjum makes a comment about mountains, in relavance to the topic, I just read that post, and comment on the mountains, and then it goes from there. This is how we get offtopic, yet stay on topic, in the sense that it can all be traced back to the root of the thread.

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

It all eventually circles around...in this case, to the mound, and the girls whom want to keep the lawn cut close.

You know, that bikini-cut thing, that's a product of the porn industry. No doubt about it. They started big in the 80's..and now it's mainstream. I predict the next wave of, uh, labial fashion, will be back to au natural.

Von Mudra April 5th, 2009 06:09 PM

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

Probably. I gotta admit, the completely clean cut look isn't that appealing, unless you like 9 year olds.

Moose12 April 5th, 2009 07:57 PM

Re: "Mow The Lawn"

It is appealing, do you prefer the 60's untamed bush that you need a weedwhacker to get through? I much prefer the shaved look, and for touch reasons, it is more appealing.
