- No, not everybody had a gun at home, people was poor, they were happy if they had more important stuff at home
- Yeah, they got weapons from the legal government to fight against fascists
- No, anyways they had not way to succeed, fascism won, but it had nothing to do with civilians owning guns or not, the fate of Spain was sealed as nazism and fascism supported Franco full steam and Western democracies prefered appeasement
- Lainer is comparing a poor country in the 30's, that just abandoned feudalism some years before, and pestered by the fascist movements of 30's in Europe with a XXI century country with 200 years of democracy. Sometimes I wonder if you really love your country or that America Fuck Yeah is just a pose.

Things have been so peaceful for the last week. It was amazing. No political threads, not even the injection of politics into non-political threads.There was not a single disagreement, much less harsh words or raised voices. There were expressions of regard and even love.

And now, like a switch has been thrown, the usual vitriol, expressions of contempt, lecturing, insults, attacks on entire peoples and countries. I'm flabbergasted.

What could be the reason? It's like a virus is here; like an infection has been introduced to the body. But what is it? What is different this week than last week? Is it the weather?

Is there someone here and posting now who wasn't when peace reigned? I wish I knew.

Yes, I know that they didn't own guns themselves mostly, due to the poor nature. But it was still the arming of the people against a fascist coup, that only succeeded due to the support of Germany and Italy. Without that support, the PEOPLE would have crushed Franco easily.
