Meh, my take is it's a set up. Besides, all American Georgians immediately knew it wasn't their own state which was invaded because of the news reports that the Russians had captured territory and were still holding it almost two weeks later - if Jawjuh had been invaded every last Russian would have been dead in 24 hours.

You just do not want to mess with those wild-eyed Southern boys if you value drawing breath.

I live in New England and if a country ever invaded western massachusetts, I guarantee there would be 10000 angry forest boys with hunting rifles and shotguns on their way to fight for the Quabbin. Meanwhile every speed boat, lanteen ship, and row-boat on the coast of New England would be loaded with gunmen ready to attack the enemy Navy...itd be chaotic. Hell Id bet money that a group of guys would commandeer the USS Massachusetts and sail it out to sea.

Yep - it tends to build up centuries-long resentment when you burn every dwelling, eat or lay waste to every single foodstuff or head of livestock, and steal or utterly ruin every single item of property or personal valuable in a 60-mile swath from Atlanta to Savannah. Although the area was not as large as the vast steppe, Sherman, with a 19th century army and less than 100,000 men actually did a far better and more thorough job of utter destruction of the land in his March To The Sea than the Germans did in Russia.

Many Americans on this forum (look at the Pub) and in other media have openly insulted 'Europe' as a whole in the same groundless fashion that you rightly abhor when it is applied to the USA. You seem to have missed my point - why sink to their level? Surely replying to a statement like 'lol the USA is full of stupid people' with 'oh, Europe is so ignorant' is a ridiculous hypocrisy?

If your argument if that you (and your accomplices in this case) have never openly insulted Europe or Europeans, I'm afraid we disagree...

I don't get why do they even get all so grumpy when someones makes a joke bout US of A (a harmless one of coz). Heck, I wouldn't mind hearing a joke about my country or Europe, in fact I would be interested since it shows me what kind of stereotypes other people have.

I kinda hate it when people bring up these statistics. If you ask all 6 billion people on the planet, I'm pretty sure less then 20% will know where Iraq is.

Here I'll help you out. We got a lot of stereotypes for Polish here in Norway since we've got a lot of immigrants, and people looking for work. The most famous stereotype is that the Polish come to pick strawberries in Norway for the summer, earning more money in a couple months then in one year in Poland. And they smuggle various drugs and black market liquor to Norway. You can actually see a difference between the Polish and the ethnic Norwegians aswell.

Oh, and can't forget the Polish hitchhikers, can't forget them!

The main point is; Americans and Europeans will never see eye to eye. We are different people, for a reason. If we all saw eye to eye then we wouldn't be different people. If everyone in the world saw eye to eye there would be no wars, murders, divorces and so on.

I simply get annoyed, as do other Americans, when certain Europeans on this forum randomly make "jokes" about the U.S. And then get offended when we dare speak up!
