In the last 35 years my dress shirt choices have been limited to white and blue Oxford cloth button downs. Casual shirts are navy blue polos, and casual pants are khakis. Top it off with boat shoes and tassel loafers and my wardrobe problems were solved for a lifetime. What is displayed in v Mudra's pic is a stereotype (I find it shocking, shocking, I tell you): Catwalk Boy wears a foo-foo mega-gay fashion style never actually seen in public. You'll notice the obvious (and obviously intended) symbolism: the suspenders (braces) are backwards. You know, as if the cute boy's butt was facing the picture. Get it, huh, huh? In addition to all that back-to-front business, the designer is pushing the "wrongness" angle, which is as good as saying "unnatural", and "crime against nature". (Hey, I didn't design it - I just report on the symbolism.) Going with the theory that humor is the unexpected juxtaposition of incongruities, von Mudra pairs Catwalk Boy with Kid Badass. Yes, it's got a low degree of difficulty, but it's almost always nailed perfectly. |
Re: Geography fail! Didn't those designer jeans and such with holes pre-made in them originate from the US? Twice as expensive with less material. I'm from the originating country and I don't see the logic in it. Buy normal jeans and hack away while you save cash. Duh. Playing along with jum's steriotype, he must play tennis/badminton/racketball along with golf/bochieball, own a yacht, and a few horses (including a race horse). All while pulling Benjamins out of his wallet. Maybe even live in a walled utopian community as well. =p =p That, or middle class in disguise. Go ahead and laugh at my failure of humor... |
