Re: Geography fail! Now now, let's not talk about french colonialism and the white flag industry. |
Re: Geography fail! The nationalism is strong in this thread. |
Re: Geography fail! Why is it the French do so little, yet feel so superior? And I'm serious. I've spoken to a few Frenchmen and they always were so rude and felt they're superior in all ways. |

But I wouldn't judge an entire population based on the few encounters I've had in any case. The way I see it there are pleasant and unpleasant people to be found in every country. |
Re: Geography fail! Quote:
French people have a dominating way of talking, which mostly makes them arrogant. And they have a hard time to show they where wrong. But they are fine and friendly people. :p |
Re: Geography fail! Lmao, ever reliable Wikipedia. Even if it is true the actions of one unit do not speak for the whole army. |
Re: Geography fail! The Abu Grahib thing was some sick individuals who have been punished and imprisoned under our court system. It could have happened to every army, no army has a screening process to figure out if 5 years down the line they're going to do something like that. They were caught, arrested, dishonourable discharged, and imprisoned. |

Re: Geography fail! Its a well documented case...the videos of it are on youtube. The fact that it happened doesn't make Abu Grahib any better, but it just goes to show that its something that will happen in war. I for one, no matter how much I don't like it, have learned to in a way, accept it as inevitable. War brings out the best and the worst in people. You should hate it, it should be punished, the people involved are not exactly good people. But it is inevitable. Human nature is a horrible thing. Its something that many systems have tried to surpress, to counter, due to our own personal hatred of that which drives us. But every time, it rears its ugly head once more. To me, the world would probably get along much better if we learned to accept our own nature, and try to work with it, rather then trying to repress it, which causes it simply to come out in worse ways. |

Which brings us back to the old question; what can you REALLY trust? It's all a matter of what is more or less reliable. If the references checks out, then the article can be trusted, for what it is. A summary made by random people. |

And no, I don't believe in generalizations and I bet lot of american soldiers feel shame for those black sheeps To balance things and loose the bad taste in the mouths |
Re: Geography fail! Those soldiers (blacksheep) in the first clip are a disgrace to any uniform or outfit except a jail outfit... :cort: I hope they or most of them didn't got away with the disrespectfull and abusive stuff they pulled. The second clip. :) |
Re: Geography fail! Most of them don't. There was a big thing on that last clip, where they threw the dog over the cliff. The guys in it were dishonourably discharged. Doesn't sound like much, but here, a dishonourable discharge pretty much means your life is over. It goes on your perm record, its almost impossible to get a job, etc.... Its a pretty good punishment for those assholes. But remember, 20 guys out of 150,000, that is .00012 of the guys there. |
Re: Geography fail! Quote:
And yes as I (and Lobo) said these are black sheep amongst the much larger flock. They can quickly spoil the reputation of the whole group though. Edit: Nvm, googling "Puppythrowing soldiers discharged" brought some stuff up. PS: Though throwing an explosive device at a flok of sheep is pretty bad, if not worse. And making fun of the locals is a disgrace aswell (writing people that can't speak English of as retards). THose who killed the sheep should be discharged aswell. Killing or attempting to kill or inure people or animals can't be tolerated. And making fun of the locals should have consequences aswell (and if a stupid moron has a list of repeated offences they shuld be kicked out aswell). Edit2: On second view, it looks like flashbang but still that ain't good either. |
Re: Geography fail! Quote:
But yes, those soldiers are a disgrace to their uniform, and America. And those British soldiers are a disgrace, as well. |
Re: Geography fail! I didn't meant to imply those sheeps where killed, on my first look I saw something exploding. WHen I looked again I clearly saw that it was a flashbang. A flashbang won't kill those sheep. But it's not very nice at all. They obviously did it for there own amusement. If the sheep where on the road then a flashbang would only stun the sheep... which would make it kinda pointless if not contraproductive to throw a flashbang. Firing a rifle in the air would be more effective to scare the sheep away. With such actions you won't win the hearts of the locals (you probably lose some support and that only hurts your own men...). But luckily we also get footage from soldiers who are more then just kind and get pretty close with the locals (and also pets) which is a good thing. But one bad apple can spoil them (the image troops have) all. |
Re: Geography fail! Well I just look past the black sheep and praise the white sheep. |
