So its kinda irritating, we need to upgrade so soon, for this dx10. I really wouldnt care, but all the software coming out now is for dx10.

I want dx9 stuff, because i wont be buying any dx10 for awhile. Tbh i want games with substance, not glitzy graphics anyway.

jumjum was being fascious.

An older argument - if you have the rig to run Vista it will be great no doubt. My rig is not two years old and it will not support Vista properly.

And if you want a top end video card to run Vista "properly" guess what?? You'll need a bigger power supply.

Using the Nvidia 8800 as an, it requires (per instructions) 600W.

I'm sure the the lesser series will require less.

Don't ask how I know these things...

Agreed. Not a big fan of vista. I do not want my OS to be such a resource hog. I prefer an OS to be a slim stripped down system. Leave the resources for my applications.

Default It's not EA's fault

Some people complain that EA is going to destroy every chance that FH2 has to become a great game/mod. Although there is a high probability that many people would start playing BF3, I don't think that people would stop playing FH2 just because of it. I mean, there are still many people playing FH as we speak, even if their numbers have dropped considerably. BF3 is not the only game that is susceptible of dragging players some where else. Take a look at Call of Duty 4 that has a great engine. Take a look at all the other games that are getting out. I am sure people, wether you like it or not, will not dedicate their lives to FH2 only..

Besides, why would it be EA's fault? I was a hardcore FH player and I do know many of them who stopped playing because they wanted to play on a newer engine. Now what I am about to say I mean it with no disrespect but I do think that the modding team behind FH2 took too much time to get their first release out. Its been what, almost 2 years now? I mean, take a look at PROJECT REALITY. They released their first version (0.1) like a year ago.. Sure in the beginning they borrowed many things from what was already available, but they released something, even with bugs.. And they made it better.. Many modders do this that way because you have to face a new reality now.. Companies release games much faster and with better graphics.

If they would have released FH2 a year ago, even if not everything was accurate, even if it was far from being good quality like FH, over time, they could have made it an outstanding mod.. They just didnt want to compromise. And I do know for a fact that some people are very dissapointed. Doesn't mean they wont play it, but if they think that they had to wait all this time for something that doesn't match their expectations, FH2 will not be their games.. Thats called frustration and anger probably but its still a reality they will have to face now.

I do hope FH2 will pick up.. I do hope that for FH2, BF3 doesn't mean having to redesign too much to port the game over. Only thing that is for sure, I hope that the FH2 team will listen to this and next time have a more progressive approach to their development. Because this is not a game that needs to be 100%, its a mod that will evolve to be fantastic if people really put their hearts into it.

Thats my 2 cents.

PR is a modern combat mod, thus it can use material from BF2, FH is a ww2 mod, thus it can't. If you want to make a comparison, you have to use full conversion mods like EOD or Pirates. EoD failed, and Pirates was released only a month ago.

Oh, and FH2 won't be 100% ready when they release. They are naming the first release 0.1, that makes it about 10% ready, right?

Aww hamburgers, looks like BF2142 all over again; EA-DICE: please fix all the errors in BF2 before moving on to the next game, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

Oh, and did anyone notice that the Call of Duty 4 demo was released, what the hell? That was way sooner than I was expecting. Now to finish off my bottle of George Dickel no. 12 (way better than Jack Daniels)...

It's a wierd topic. We must remember that engines are becoming to hard for weekend modders to make high quality total conversions. You know that 90% of objects in a 90% destructible enviroment must be coded with wreck models? That would take forever, especially with FH's over 500 statics (which they claim in the "release date" sticky). I can already tell you a total conversion for BF3 is going to be next to impossible. Modifications will need a new aproach if going to survive into the future. The last hope for Battlefield modding is indeed FH.

Default sure I can compare the 2...

Kradovech, of course I can compare the two.. Because even if PR could use some of the vehicules already there, do you know how much effort and code was put into each of them to bring them as close as possible to some sort of realism? ALOT. PR is a total conversion but no in the way you would think. Its a total conversion from a game that was arcadish to a game that is tactically realistic. And its quite an accomplishment.. You want to take another FULL conversion.. Ok.. PoE2 is one.. Sure, its in the modern era and they didnt do much in terms of REALISM (I am sure they use most of the original code), but they added many vehicules, new maps, etc.. They released it a year ago.

The point here is... PoE2 was never near complete, they made many adjustments and patches, so did they with PR.. But people had the chance to get away from BF2 vanilla and play something else.. I for one would have been very happy to play FH2 with 2, 3 maps, maybe even use some of the modern maps coming with BF2 vanilla just to play infantry with a few weapons.. And I would have enjoyed it even with the bugs and would have waited with excitement every new release.. Its all about releasing something out at a reasonable time...

Anyways, you can't blame EA for releasing BF3. They are there to make money and they know many people will buy it.. If you ask me, EA is not my favourite company.. They have left BF2 with many bugs and memory leaks and then they went on to code BF2142 which they had us pay 50$.. 50$ for a mod because BF2142 is nothing more than a few enhancements over BF2.. There are so many better engines out there that the Forgotten Hope team could use instead of EA's/DICE engine. I don't plan to buy BF3 because EA is just not a company that understands good quality and client support. I can only see myself buy it if there would be an FH3 coming out because I love world war 2 games and yes they the FH team does a great job at what it does and the concept of having infantry, vehicules, planes, etc, makes it great.
