Katyn movie, released Well first movie in history about Katyn massacre was finally made, here in Poland. I haven't seen it yet but everytime i read in the news or from friends, they say that after movie ends, there's complete silence, nobody moves or makes a sound until last "staff" letters are gone and even longer, some are crying some are speechless, i wanna see it!!! damn Ireland!. I wonder how people from other nations will react, probably not so deeply. |
Oh, need to keep my eyes open for this one. Thanks for letting us know Snake. :) |
Damn non-Polish speaking Ireland! But seriously though, it looks like a great film, even if it won't affect me in the way it affects Poles. |
damn, that's heavy stuff, 20,000 officers in cold blood, bastards |
For many tears the Soviet Union claimed that Katyn was committed by the Nazis - I'm not sure if the USSR ever admitted it was responsible for Katyn. Many in the US believed the Soviets; and there were a good many Soviet supporters in the US who spouted the Party line for years. Just like with Alger Hiss. Poor Poland - there was no rescue for her. Although the Reds kicked out the Germans, they continued many of the Nazis' brutal policies of extermination. The Western Allies had a good idea of what the Soviets were doing to the Poles during the war, and they certainly knew afterwards. The postwar western allies turned a blind eye and let Stalin devour not only Poland but half of Europe. I would love to see the movie. |
yes.. poor poland.. they was exterminated by on katyn forest the best friends of Poland during WW2 was british and US army.. |
There needs to be more movies on Communist Russia under Stalin, period. At least, to counterbalance all the movies about the Nazis so that people can put things into perspective. Hell, better throw in Mao as well, I guess. ALso, no, I will not stop pushing this! :P Quote:

When I started watching that movie,I was like:"Let's get ready for another propaganda boring movie:uhm:".....but when the film was over-it was more like: "WTF!?!!:("....and that silence just after the showing.....unbelievable....whole trip back to home i was thinking.......thinking deeply(thing that I don't do often;)). Anyway. Was the film worth watching? For me absolutely(despite the fact-that dislike some of the actor's).Even if some might don't understand/like it-IMHO one of the best movies made last years,by Polish cinematography. So go watch it(if You will have a chance)and write some opinions about it here.I love reading those :). There was a guy, that lived in my grandfather's village(no-he was no insurgent/partisan)....one day he went to the wood's,for the wood. 1st German patrol he meet on his road had German of Polish Origins-he warned him in polish:"If you go any further-next patrol will shoot first, than ask question's".But the guy didn't listened to warning's...so he went further.About 1 or 2 km from 1st encounter,2nd German patrol shot him.(German's were afraid of people aiding partisan's...so it was HIGHLY risky wandering,by yourself into the wood's) Russian's were no much better.Especially when they found a weapon in your house...or your family member was an AK/BCH(Peasant's Battalion's-many of it's member's joined AK later)member. We got a saying here, which goes like this:"We were saved by ally of our allies." Quote:

tnx for comments guys. I said damn Ireland because i have to sit here until i earn some money (still didn't find a job), and i doubt that they'll be showing Katyn here anytime soon.BTW there's 50,000 Poles here in Cork in Dublin there's around 200,000 Poles lol. Quote:
Amazon.com: An Army in Exile: The Story of the Second Polish Corps (Allied Forces Series): Books: Wladyslaw Anders there's all You want to know about relations between allie generals and Polish army and about relations between allie politicians and Polish generals/army. There are quotes of letters, documents, and what is the most exciting, quotes of talks between Polish generals and Soviets -Stalin, Molotov etc. You can read exactly how it was.Thing i noticed after reading it is, Allie generals like Alexander or MArk Clark and some others were full of friendship and kind words towards Polish army, but british and american politicians, well, they betrayed and broken all trities, agreements with Poland.Read it and You'll know all of this.General Anders knew soviets very well, he spent many months in soviet prisons, he knew all about soviet politics, althought allie leaders didn't want to believe him, they choosed to believe soviets, Stalin. Well You all know how it ended up.Most of Europe enslaved, Cold war etc. P.S. for me the nicest part was reading all letters and recomendations from Allie generals like Alexander, Clark, and some more, about how great Polish soldiers are and how good they fight hehehe ;p |
There's tons of Poles in Ireland! I used to live in Dublin, and they were probably the largest group of people, after the Irish themselves. |
About 2 million Pole's emigrated to British Isle's,in the last 3 year's.It's the biggest migration wave in the post-war time's(so I'm asking...WTF:mad:!?"If things are so good, why are they so bad.Theres a reason why people leaving this friggin country, but thats the subject for another thread ;). Anyway. Here's one of my favorite WW2 quotes, about Poland: "Ethiopians will be there,Mexicans will be there. The Fiji Medical Corps, the Labuan Police and the Seychelles Pioneer Corps will--and rightly, too. But the Poles will not be there. Have we lost not only our sense of perspective, but our sense of gratitude as well?" End of Off topic :p |
