Now why do those illegals come here again?
To pick your lettuce, drive your trucks, fix your cars, set up your gardens, sort out your trash, clean your office buildings, wash your dishes?

I don't know about flyover country, but if you're in CA, have you actually _tried_ finding an American mechanic/cleaning lady/prep cook/gardener? Good luck. I'm not condoning illegal immigration by any means, but blaming them for shit that's equally or more the fault of lazy decadent idiots while conveniently overlooking the wider economic (yes, I am focused on money, because it's MY goddamm money) aspects and interdependencies is kind of wanky.

My comment was meant to talk about the fact that the Colorado River doesnt make it to Mexico anymore. Also, being a mechanic is by no means a menial job to be compared to picking lettuce and cleaning ladies. My buddy makes 100k per year regularly. Flat rate baby!!! I wish we all could make flat rate.

I never meant to imply that it was a trivial job, sorry if it came across that way. However, I nowhere in the US ever ever ever encountered a level of technical and mechanical proficiency (not to mention a pretty damn good work ethic) comparable to what I've seen in Mexico and S. America (you'd freak if you saw what kind of stuff those guys manage to keep rolling.)

I mean, my favorite tailor in San Francisco is an old Nicaraguan dude who charges me 10 bucks to turn a pair of discounted off-the-rack designer slacks from Ross into essentially a bespoke piece of clothing. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

No sweat fuzz, love, for all time. Those dudes are probably amazing at rebuilding individual components too, rather then just replacing them.

What I also fail to understand is the supposed hidden agenda of the people and organizations that support the climate change theory. Perhaps you could explain me this? A conspiracy made up by the hybrid-car manufacturers?

Wow, that's handy.

You can also not deny that climates globally have changed, some pretty drastically, in the last 50 years. In fact, much more so than anyone reasonable would assume from normal natural cycles and variations. This is not anecdotal nor incidental evidence, but observational. As I said, even if "global warming" is a stupid term, climate change, a more accurate description, is not.

And as MkH^ said, quite reasonably, what the f*** is stopping you from making fairly minor adjustments to your lifestyle which

-WILL NOT cause you to live in caves and die at 35
-MAY WELL help slow or combat climate change
-WILL help with other things

More examples of the latter: turning off your damn lights and building energy efficient housing. Not washing your car in summer or growing rice in the California central valley. Driving smaller, more efficient cars. The first reduces power consumption and thus the need for power generation, the second reduces drain on aquifers and water ecosystems like Darling river, Mono lake or the Colorado river, the third reduces reliance on foreign oil and makes the air smell better.

The first: it's a known fact that people subscribing to the stupid urban myth that it costs more to hire someone to turn out the lights in office buildings than to leave them on, or running air conditioners full blast all the time contributed directly to massive energy shortages in California when Enron decided to pull the plug after horrible power negotiations by the CA state government, resulting in rolling brownouts, resulting in massive economic losses.

The second: It's a known fact that depleting water supplies causes droughts, which speed desertification, which heats shit up, which causes local climate change (look at CO river and Darling river water levels in the last 50 years for some concrete figures) which affects climate patterns in a larger area. And resulting in massive economic losses

The third: puts less money in the hands of the Saudis to give to people who wear funny hats and like to blow up me and you. Resulting in massive economic losses.

Even assuming we forget about warming or cooling or typhoons or melting ice caps and rising sea levels and growing saline content of HUGE TRACTS OF LAND ( . )( . ), we can agree that massive economic losses are bad, because the mean you and I have more trouble finding jobs and paying for cocaine and hookers, and because it causes large numbers of hungry Ethiopian refugees to set up camp on my front lawn. And that's bad.

Is this so complicated?

lol did NONE of you see the post before mine...SHAME ON YOU, i was simply backfiring the post before me.....

FINALLY A REASONE TO CHANGE THAT SHITTY F250 FOR SOME PROPER EUROPEAN

(SHIT)

son, don't even go there (but ya did) DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IM ANGRY!!!?! *sees lobo get a moderator
real fast* first off my F250 would CRUSH your wimpy little geek-squad type european hybrid

So, global warming DOES exist now?

Its not an american problem, its a global problem. The countries with the most left to do are those develloping countries that are growing very fast (China, India, ect.). However, western countries must show the way and devellop ways to be more energy efficient. I'm saddened by governements who stubbornly refuse to even admit there might be a problem or those who act in speech only, and this isn't limited to the US govt, far from it.

I agree. I really wish people would quit arguing and become more energy efficient, keeping the environment clean and the like. If everyone worked together it would make a huge difference, but sadly this is not the case.

I really believe its a little bit of this and little bit of that. Little things become big, you know and save you money in the long run. A couple things I plan to do to my first (or second) house!

Geothermal exchange. Simply put, you spread out pipes beneath your yard, 4 feet down. 4 feet below the earth it is constantly 55 degrees (Farenheit you commie bastards!) summer or winter. You run water or antifreeze or some such through these pipes. They then conduct 55 degrees back to your exchange unit that uses a radiator and blower, retro fitted into your existing systems and voila. You do not heat freezing air in the winter, you heat 55 degree air. You dont try to cool 95 degree air in the summer, you simply enjoy 55 degree air, to a degree. Couple that with hot water on demand. Electric heaters, individual ones under each sink. No tank, kept hot. The heater (Think "insinkerator") will give you instant hot water when employed. You can also use solar power. If you got the money, and use tax breaks that are available, you can become a small electric company that sells excess power BACK to the electric company!!! Think about that for a moment. They will pay YOU! AND you get tax breaks to do it! It always sounds scary, but if done right, youd have your money back in a few years.

Could you imagine if instead of huge producers distributing electricity to smaller users, it was the other way around using solar??? This is possible.

i think it would be fine and dandy IF everyone worked together but it will NEVER EVER EVER happen because that just the way it is.....e.g. you cant get GW extremeists (you) to agree with GW does not exists people (me) and im not even hardcore about it (i REALLY could care LESS about this topic) there are some that go to their deathbed that denei GW.

EITHER WAY.....no matter how much we argue we won't know till 100 years down the road when all the GW hipe has been crushed when it doesn't happen
