| Well my thinking is this,... If theres even a billionth of a chance that we are causing global warming and thus dooming ourselves to a slow cooking death. Then i say we should take the safe route, rather than taking the "lets wait until we have absolute proof, but now its to late to do anything about it" route. I really dont see the problem with going green, other than it hurting certain business interests. Who dont give a crap about what impact it may be having and would sink us all to protect its cookie. So excuse me if i dont give a crap about their potential loses..

| True right now, but voting the right people in when it finally becomes an issue will change that. What we need is a new tech for transportation, i dont believe theres such a thing as a safe fuel source. So we need electric cars or cold fusion or something else new. And we need it now.

| PROPANE!!!!! it burns more efficiantly than gas/diesel and has more BTU's (power) plus i hear FORD is coming out with a new propane truck!! its a bi-product of gas theres tons of it in storage. but it takes like 1/10 of the fossil fuels to make 1/10 the crude oil

| As some of you know, I just got back from South America. It just snowed in Buenos Aires. It's not snowed there for something like a century. Also, skin cancer is way more prevalent than it ever was, and that's including statistical skewing factors like "people being in the sun more" and "people living longer." The continent is experiencing unprecedented amounts of mudslides, el niņo is wreaking havoc atypical for even a cyclical climate phaenomenon, and the weather's generally a mess. Anecdotal evidence, maybe. But jesus h. christ, you have objective evidence (with, fairly enough, a bunch of objective evidence to the contrary) and you have anecdotal evidence, what more do you want, a mention in the bible? Thou shalt not drive a fucking Humvee? Back home in Switzerland, our glaciers have receded at alarming rates, some as much as a few hundred meters. Man-made steps which a century ago stopped at the top of the ice now end a huge distance above the remaining ice field. This means that the rock morane fields at the feet of many glaciers have become loose due to the large amounts of runoff water, causing huge and deadly rockslides. Catastrophic avalanches are far more common than they used to be due to looser snow forming snow boards. The permafrost that at higher altitude holds large parts of mountains together is also melting, causing entire villages to be buried under torrents of rock and mud -- look up Gondo for an example. Alpine snow also has massively receded every winter, meaning the ski season is now something like 2 months -- I remember being able to go skiing over Christmas (come to think of it, I haven't seen snow at Christmas in a decade) as a child. Those of you over 30 may also have noted that summers in the last 10 years were far more extreme than any we used to have. This summer, Europe varied between floods due to unseasonal torrential rains and yet another baking deadly record heat wave. SE Australia and California are facing acute water shortages. The Arabian aquifer is rumored to be close to drying up. 2005's Caribbean hurricane season was yet another cracker (ask Ray Nagin) in an ever-increasing series of record seasons over the past few decades. Forget the human and principle ("we should save the fluffy Canadian woodchuck") factors for a second, THIS SHIT COSTS MONEY. It costs you money to clean up flood sites, it costs me money to decontaminate polluted rivers so people can build houses next to them without their children growing penises on their foreheads (ooh!) -- and yet most people don't seem to give a shit. You don't even need to be an environmentalist -- it's so damn easy to take the train every now and then, separate your recyclables (yes, producing cans uses energy), close the windows while heating, that there is simply no excuse not to do it. And yet, in some parts of the world if you even mention this, you are labelled a pinko bomb-throwing anarchist on par with Hitler, bin Laden, or god forbid, Al Gore, who threatens the very underpinnings of civilized society. Point is, the world's climate is changing; man-made factors already provably caused a massive depletion of the ozone layer (which may be somewhat repaired by, I dunno, 2035 or so) and there's plenty of evidence possibly connecting CO2 emissions and other pollutants to make you wonder -- if you are not at the very least asking yourself "hey, hm, maybe just maybe there's something to this", you're doing the equivalent of covering your ears and shutting your eyes and yelling LA LA LA LA like a pouty child who doesn't like what he hears. It's especially hilarious when you have something like Cape Wind (look it up) being actively fought by Cape Cod/Nantucket residents because the floating wind farms many miles offshore might spoil their views. Yes, this is happening. The two guys who came up with the idea eventually developed an alternative, siting windmills on offshore abandoned oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. *slaps forehead* Forget global warming for a second, consider oil prices. Whether or not oil is running out (I believe it is, but whatever), man's ability to mine and refine the stuff is being increasingly outstripped by growth in demand. Blame 1 billion nouveau-riche Chinese and that shitwit in the SUV in front of you. Think it's no problem, we'll all go electric? Well consider how much electricity, how much food, how many construction materials, clothes, etc. rely on petroleum, and think about the fact that we may just, on a purely economic basis, be facing a little bitty problem. |

| /sarcastic post well if humans use so much energy and overpopulation is a prob then im calling for a MASS suicide (worldwide!!)then with the few left (the ones that know GW is fake) simply live on and the air is about .0001% cleaner and the amount of oil left goes from 10 years to like 200 years and that last point fuzzy was excellent but if we only have 10 or so years left its WAY too late to change now with the way the earth is about sudden change

| EDIT: ya the earth is warming (a little) BUT its not dangerous and it has nothing to do with HUM4N5 its a NATURAL cycle and in another 100 years or so it will be "the next ice age" LOL
