Re: wat up yall Yeah, or read up on that memo on how to file the TPS reports. You forgot two, stylie: 5. Make an effort to not express yourself like a knuckle-dragging buffoon. I don't care whether you're a garbageman or CEO, at least trying to use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling will make you look infinitely less idiotic in the eyes of others, unless you're specifically targeting the kids who take the short bus to school. Nobody's asking you to be Shakespeare, just to go that extra centimeter to not come across like a mentally deficient ESL dropout. There are 12-, 13-year-olds on this forum for whom English is a second language who manage to do this. 6. Ranting about how others are nerds, need a life and get no pussy (not my words, note the subtle, scathing irony) makes one come across like, frankly, a cretin. I can't speak for my fellow gamers, but I'm 33, have a degree from a very good university, speak 4 languages fluently, help run a successful small consulting business, drive a TT and a Jeep, am spending a year in South America (with an attractive girlfriend of 10 years), and just got accepted to a top-10 international business school. Other guys here are students with an active interest in various topics, top-notch game modders, professionals, whatnot. I can assure you they're not a bunch of nerds with no pussy who feel the need to run around bragging about, well, mediocrity. Well, maybe stylie, I can't speak for him, he should go back to filing his TPS report. Nonetheless, I'm arguably having an even worse day than he is, so my patience for News of the Stupid is fairly low right now. Think about it. |
Re: wat up yall My bragging is always tounge-in-cheek, I hope everyone knows that! |

I have to agree with this. I think in the past ( say 6 years ago) using forums were considered by many as slightly nerdy but now pretty much everyone I know in real life uses Forums, MSN, myspace etc as a way of communicating and chatting to people. Perfect example is this girl I know from work who is absolutely stunning and stays in shape by taking yoga, you would not think in a million years she would be the sort of person to sit at a computer posting on forums but she says she gets alot of advice on yoga off 'message boards'. I won't name people but some people that have posted there pictures do come off as ever so slightly nerdy purely based off looks but thats nothing some contact lenses, fake tan, dumbbells and oxytetracycline wouldn't sort out ;) However when you get a forum where people chat about batteries, comic books, model trains etc then imho you are getting into nerdy territory but hey whatever floats you boat if we were all into black rap the world would be a very shitty place, 'u no whut I iz sying ma homi?' :o |
