WWII online

Anyone play? Do they have some sort of "invite friend" trial period?
They have a demo for Battleground Europe. Is this an expansion?
I dont see a demo for just old school WWII online.

I thought World War II Online was the same as Battleground Europe?

I tried the demo but didn't get into it. I couldn't even get a car to move, let alone an airplane (I ended up running around in circles on the taxiway without being able to stop:o).

I like the MMOFPS concept, though. Or MMORPG, for that matter (I played Galaxies for quite a few months until it became Jedi-dominated:rolleyes:).

You need a joystick to move all vehicles. :)

It's good fun, I just don't play it anymore due to money and it not actually being worth it at the moment. Can't wait for TOEs though.

Re: WWII online

I played for about a year with a good squad. Very immersive, great sense of participating in a really large operation.
Very realistic armor and weapon effect modelling, maybe the best tank sim out there.
Flight model is second only to dedicated flight sims, and better than the MS series IMO.
Graphics are rather poor, and the game is very resource intensive. We'd joke that everytime the devs announced a graphics upgrade, you'd have to buy a new computer.

They do keep improving the thing, constant small increments.

It's expensive.

I quit mostly due to the increasing prices and the time factor; like most of these massive online jobs, it can get very involving. Some guys are on there 24/7, I think.

May I ask, what is different from the old release to the new one? I'm guessing there would be a lot less patching required to bring it to the 'current build' yes?
