EDIT: I did a quick search on google and I found that products made of earthoil, computers and earthgas are the biggest exportproducts, but on other sites the say that flowers like tulips and the books of Nijntje are one of them.

The most exported goods here in the Netherlands are vegetables, pigs, eggs and gas. However, the number 1 exported good to the US is indeed beer. (Not Heineken alone though...)

Heineken really doesn't compare to some of the local brews around here. Kölsch is excellent, and Weizen beer is just amazing.

Well said, but I still cant get used to it. I hated that stuff when all we had was 22% coco ribe and Malibu. Thankfully Bacardi put out a nice high-test Coco Rum. I have a feeling there are flames licking at my heals though!

Heineken does taste a little bland to me, i prefer something with a little more character, like Duvel.

A friend of mine was on a strategy consulting project for Heineken. They worked on-site.

That whole team was alcoholic when the project ended, I'm not even joking.

Agree that heiniken is the number one export, but I dont think its as good as some other dutch beers, In my opinion Grolsch is better.

We have all shapes and sizes, from miature glasses to 0,5 liter pints and more. :) The default glass is 0,28 centi liter I beleive, which means you get just as much alcohol in you as a glass of wine or shot of gin (if you are using the correct glass and fill it the way it should be filled).

The no 1 export was OIL in the Dutch East Indies days.about 60 or so years ago. now I think flowers are the top overseas seller. OH and POT too I guess...

He I know a funny story regarding that star, it symbolizes the elements + quality and has been used since halfway the 19th century. But during the cold war the red star was not in the company logo, it got changed to a white star with a red border so people wouldn't associate it with communism.

I don't like Heineken though, my favourite normal Dutch beer is Dommelsch but I mostly drink Jupiler which is a Belgian beer.

Actually, funny thing, we once found something called "red star beer" in 1989; it was made in Berlin (never figured out if it was East or West.)
