Default SLI Physics might mean real physics modelling for FH2?

Nvidia has announced SLI Physics.

So what does it do? This is the scary part. It simulates "the interactions of thousands of colliding rigid bodies" and computes friction, collisions, gravity mass and velocity, which Nvidia says "form the basis of rigid body physics". It supports shader model 3.0, and so Geforce 6s and 7s will work with it.
Now we just need BF2 to support it in a future patch.

Future patch? Come Anlushac, you're a lot smarter than that....

As for the topic, it's interesting to hear about, considering a lot of people want quad-core CPU's to do this as well. There's also the ever vaporous PhysX processor, which has been pushed back AGAIN (end of the year huh? I wouldn't count on it...).

One thing though, is they'd need to come up with a way to deal with the exorbitant costs of it; the Dell XPS with four 7900GTX's costs $7000 without a monitor, speakers, or warranty!

Still though, should be interesting to see what develops. Also, do you think this should be in the tech discussion forum? Would get a lot more traffic there methinks.

^Well duh. That computer was made for lotto winners.
I bet you could make the same thing with a monitor for at least a 1000 bucks cheaper.

SLI has not proven yet to be worth it. Look at SLI on the last generation and it will not beat one of todays version. 6800SLI not as good as one 7800.

Well, so much for a separate physics card.
(Nvidia probably saw that, thought 'That could be big', and *snatch*)

This seems cool, although a little weird (computations within a GPU unrelated to graphics)...

I wonder what Valve will think about this. Didn't they say that they would be interested in dedicated physics? If so, you would think that they would side with Nvidia, but right now they're with ATI.

The people at Nvidia are scheming ones, aren't they? hmm...

This is the end of the beginning of 3d games as we know them.
Realistic physics will allow almost lifelike interaction with the virtual environment, can't wait for this one!

Not hating Dell, just stating the fact that a computer with four 7900GTX's (any computer!) will cost way too freaking much, like "I'd rather buy a car" way too freaking much.

And they factory overclock their procs now...whee, they finally caught up to Voodoo and Falcon Northwest, only took 'em a couple years...
