Re: Gaunty's Picture Quiz 2

1. US M4 Sherman (not A1, I believe, due to lack of front skirts?)
2. US M1A1 Flamethrower (guy is US Marines in post-1943 Pacific camo)
3. Messerschmitt Me-163B Komet
4. Blohm & Voss P.211 (post-capture, I've seen the pic elsewhere)
5. Bachem Ba-349 Natter
6. Republic P-47A Thunderbolt
7. Oodles of IS-2s, a T-34/85 and a Su-122 (plus an arty tractor, who knows)
8. Soviet T-35 (single forward turret, as opposed to the T-28)
9. Jagdpanther (unsure of model)
10. Dornier Do-24

11. Mil Mi-24 (Hind "G")
12. Gah, best guess is an AMX-40 (the front deflectors to the side of the main gun are weird.)
13. Dragunov SVD
14. H&K G36 Assault rifle (folding stock--I think that's the German army special sight, stock they come with a 1.5x sight built into the frame at top)
15. I think it's a Type 671 Victor II (lack of sonar on tail) that I took for a Lyra ("Alfa") at first, but the tower's too low and fluid for that. Could be a "Romeo" or "Tango" behind it from the sonar on the tower and aft section.

Re: Gaunty's Picture Quiz 2

no .1 IS M4A1 Sherman - just look at it - it's rounded :) The only other rounded Sherman is m4 with composite hull and firefly IC that's based on it. However composite hull shermans had only rounded front, the rest of the hull was welded/edged like on m4.

@Fuzzy: Skirts doesn't decide on a model of Sherman. AFAIK they were an accessory and it depended on crew (or more like commander of armory) whether they were installed or not. So i.e. most Shermans in Northern Europe had no sandskirts.

Point taken, thanks for the clarification.

My own M4A1's currently in the garage (damn crappy Panther drivers with their cell phones) so I couldn't check.

Pretty sure also, the wheels + hull are very T-34ish, and the gun to the 85.

I'm curious, how do you know that?

From the pictures I've seen, the other 2 of the class (Vitse Admiral Drozd and Admiral Zozulya) have different hull markings then your pic. Honestly I cant be positive as finding good pictures or real info on this class is seemingly hard as shit.
