How many working shuttles did the non-capitalist countries on this planet ever build? Lowest bidder still has to fulfill all the specifications for the bid. Not saying capitalism is without flaws, but capitalist societies have definitely been a major force in space exploration. After all it’s been capitalist investors who’ve kept the Russian’s space programs alive since the fall of the Soviet Union.

Tiles falling off the shuttle is bad, and it needs to be fixed. But let’s not cure the headache by cutting off the head.

Perhaps if we were discussing the Space Programs of other nations your point would be valid, but since the title of this thread clearly states Space Shuttles Grounded, your point (if you could call it that) is moot.

Moot? I was responding to your claim that the shuttle is a piece of shit because it was built by capitalist. Using the comparison method, but whatever. For your information though the shuttle is one of the finest pieces of aerospace engineering there is IMHO.

Heck for that matter they could swallow thier pride and pay the Russians to ferry stuff up, their rockets seem to be working fine.

Did you see the program on MSN the other night. Former director of NASA was asked the same question. His reply in a nut shell was "For the same reason we sent people to the moon when we could have had machines do it." So it seems pride was the correct answer.
