That's basic squad tactics. It's called "bound and overwatch". Funny how when you use squad tactics your "Skilled" and when the majority of the people here who seem to like "Woods ball" as you called it, use squad tactics they're "Army boy" as you say. You really are full of it sometimes. You should try to make a positive statement about your sport of choice without insulting everyone else's.
Your both playing the same game just with different parameters. There version sounds like FH your version sounds like B42. Realism vs. Arcade. Both have there good and bad points.

I wasn't talking about bound and overwatch being skills. I was talking about snapshot being skills. In woodsball you may get a chance to Lane or snap shoot once per game. Speedball is just all those skills being used constantly.

Okay you’ve definitely got my interest in paintball up, and I get your point about wanting non-stop action. I know you have better than average skills or hand eye reflexes, because you my ass on Trois Ponts the other day. I’m average so the fact that I could cross the river shoot 3 guys to the left of you, kill the guy to the right of you, only to be shot by you not once but twice was very “Grrrrrr”.

Now with all the “huggy” crap out of the way don’t you think “Snap shooting” (http://www.splatmagazine.com/snap.htm great article by the way) and it’s use is exactly the same as “Suppressive Fire”? You snap off according to the article three rounds or so to keep your opponents pinned. That’s “Suppressive Fire” in a nut shell. Now the reason I brought up your skills, is because It all comes down to the guy with gun and how well of a marksmen he or she is. Better the shot, better the snap.

Of course better weapons make a difference as well, and I’m guess Mil-Sims aren’t as good as what your packing.?

I'm going to play Paintball in two weeks for the very first time. Is there anything I should know in order to survive more than 30sec and at least shoot one person?

Snap shooting isn't about supressive fire. It's about being able to take fast aim. Paintball is also major hand eye co-ordination while computer games are minor. And there is a differance. Otherwise all CS players would be awesome at football and soccer. Or atleast handball.

Snap shoting is being able to bob out of your bunker quickly, and let off usually one or two shots. Idealy you can hit opponents while still moving. It's usually not about supressing though it's kind of a gun fight thing. People don't snap shoot when supressing because they already control that lane of fire. Snap shooting is how you win over and take control of a lane of fire and capture angles.

And I don't think I have played trois points for a while, but maybe.

Komrade B the important things to remember is that your gun really cannot shoot that far. Paintballs don't go straight. Get as close as possible. And be brave. They don't hurt and bravery is really rewarded. It's important not to have fear of being hit. Fear is what stops alot of good plays from taking place.

Bunny hopping rules in paintball. GET CLOSE. If you get really close to players they'll probably be afraid of you. Even if you get shot you'll get lots of people out. Another important move to know is Choking. Run straight to their building or bunker where they can't see you and then quickly move around the side while firing. Your should hit the wall because you'll be preshooting to actually hitting them.

Fight for lanes of fire before you fight people
Getting someone to put their heads down is all you need to win. Never stare around a corner. Make quick bobbing motions in and out and try to shoot while you do this if you're trying to win a lane of fire.

another thing to remember is to keep moving and dont stay in the same place for more than a minute. if you arent being commanded then command the people around you and take intiative. if you are playing objective maps teamwork will win. a person that goes rambo might get a few people our, but will get himself out. use simple commands like "movie there!" "covering fire" "move out" "you there watch our backs and make sure they dont flank us" etc. etc.

Ah snapping shots on the run. I see now?. Your still suppressing your opponent and moving up. Just because you have good aim doesn't make it somehow different. Just more accurate. The one thing you've said that I can agree with is that playing hyper ball gives you more chances to hone your skills. Thus making a more formidable player. From everything else I've been reading and heard so far it the same old tactics just new names. Although now I really want to try it!

Maybe my ASS! The Wednesday before last to be exact. At around 8:00 pm pacific time to be more exact. If it wasn't for you I would have crossed that river and raised hell. Like I said it was a very "Grrrr" moment.

Oh and for the record hand eye is 90% of it, when it comes to shooting. I shot expert in the Army for 8 out of 9 years. Not that that will help me when I being pwn3d by a bunch of young bucks with paint guns.

I'm not talking about snapshots on the run. That would be impossible. I just mean you can fire while you're still bobbing in and out of your bunker. So that way you never stop the actual motion to aim your shot. Let's find a picture no?

Here is a person who is not snap shooting. He is merely hanging out the side of his bunker like an oaf and being a general moron. He's likely to get hit since he does not have quick access to cover.

Here we see someone in firing position for a snap shot. He has quickly leaned out of his bunker (The inflateable thing) and fires one or two shots. Then he quickly leans back in. This way he quickly is behind cover before he can be reacted to.

For other stratagies and tips I recommend.
