The practice wasn't just limited to Tank units, for example: Quote: 358 Battery, 90th City of London Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, vehicle names. A Troop- Achilles, Ajax, Augusta, Attacker II and Apollo* (signals carrier). B Troop- Beau Fighter, Beau Brummel, Beau Geste. C Troop- Unknown. D Troop- Dreadnought, Defiant and Devil's Delight* (OP Tank). E Troop- Excalibur. F Troop- Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum.
* All were Sexton 25pdr SPG's except Apollo- a Universal Carrier, and Devil's Delight- a Sherman V OP. | |
