Has anyone watched the movie Downfall yet?
 

Hi, I was just wondering after seeing a movie preview on tv (In Canada) for a soon to be released movie named Downfall. The website for the movie http://www.downfallthefilm.com/ says a different release date. Anyways, it'll be out in Canada next week, and sometimes movies release here few days after the states etc, so I was just wondering, have anyone seen this film? Heard of it?

The film is about Adolph Hitler's last days in Berlin, when he was hiding in a bunker and the allies were then infiltrating the city of Berlin in the final days of the war. Anyhow, it looks to be a good movie imo, will definately go and see it.

I believe most of us (WWII avids) know about the movie by now.

I watched it like 3 weeks ago (March 18th)
It came out to Montreal March 11th..

It was indeed an excellent movie!!! I've honestly never heard a negative opinion about the film by my friends/teachers/etc...

Well I must live in the asshole of the planet 'cause I don't think it's here yet and I just saw a commercial for it the other day and it said April something so it was still march the day I saw it so I assume it's not out here.

So for all those hardcore wwii avids (which I would almost call myself now) I apologize if you already knew about the movie :P

I saw it a few nights ago.

One word: Amazing.

All of the actors look EXACTLY like the real people, and sometimes you actually feel like you are in the streets of Berlin. I really recommend it.

it is a very good movie (lot of MP44~panzerfaust100~naked girl:D )
but its tiger...88mm flak....look very bad

There was a program about it on the BBC yesterday.

Der Undergang is a VERY good movie. One of the best ones I even seen.

I saw Der Untergang (Please don't call it Downfall that sounds so incredibly lame. It's like calling Das Boot for The Submarine) at the very first show in Norway, 18th of February. A very good movie. Bruno Ganz is just incredible in the role as Hitler.

Actually Das Boot is called "The Boat" in english :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

i saw Der Untergang a couple of months ago when it was released in the dutch cimas (yes german spoken with dutch subtitles).

I am in a hurry so i skipped half the thread: is the "north american" version in english or (also) in german with english subtitles? movies are 1000 times better in their orginal langauage.

I saw the first 10 minutes of Das Boot in English, but then notices there was an option to have German speech. Changed it at once and enjoyed the movie in German. English was just horrible

Yeah, I know. But I saw it the first time on a cheap VHS version. Then some years later, I bought the DVD and could finaly enjoy the "Jawohl herr Kapitän!" :D

From the commercial I saw here in Canada, it looked to be German with English subtitles.

I'd prefer it that way myself. I remember when I first saw Enemy At The Gates and everyone speaks english in that movie it just really ruined it for me.

Ya i did! lol that was funny, german soldiers saying 'yankee'. but scary movie with realistic guns. such as the stg44 which rules. the first pary in the movie freaked me out.

Yeah, I know!
The StG-44 and the MG-42 was well worth seeing the movie! :naughty: Especially the StG-44!
