Sig Making Tutorial

Ok well Im going to attempt to make a signature making tutorial and show you some of the things NoCool did in his desktop thread-

This is all done using Photoshop.

Ok well im going to show how to make a basic signature.(All and all its pretty bland and empty.)

1. Im gonna start with a 120x500 Pixel drawing.

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24251.jpg

2.Now Im using Cloudset Brushset, but you may wanna use anyone you want from- http://resources.deviantart.com/applications/psbrushes/
And I brush on a nice green background. (If you don't have any brushes just copy the lower image.)

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24252.jpg

3.Now Im going to use this diecast sherman model just becuase it had an easy to cut out background becasue it was white. just copy this picture and use the Magic Wand Tool to select the background and delete it.

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24254.jpg

4.Now im going to apply the Cutout effect to it. Go to Filter>Artistic>Cutout. Im going to use my Levels as High as they go. My Simplicity to 0 and my Fidelity at whatever looks best.

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24255.jpg

5. Im going to resize it to about 100 Pixels high or so by going to the Image>Image size function. Then Im going to insert it into the Signature Ive got going.

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24256.jpg

6. After this Im going to blend the sherman to the background by going to the Layer tab and switching the blending to Overlay.

This will make the sherman blend into the background.

7.Now im going to take this render of a BF soldier(after I have removed the with Background hes on) and apply the Poster Edges Effect that you see in NoCools work. Go to Filter>Artistic>Poster Eges and play with it till you get it nice.

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24257.jpg

And the Poster Edges one-

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24258.jpg

8.Now Im gonna resize him so he will fit on the sig as well. Im also going to apply the Overlay blending on him like I did with the tank.

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24259.jpg

9.Now I draw a green rectangle on the bottom. In the Blending Option box. (Click on the F on the layer box at the bottom.) Go to the Blending Options tabs and set the Opacity lower so it becomes see through.

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24261.GIF

Along with that Im going to put a black out line on it-

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24262.GIF

Then im going to add some Nomenclature and the Signature is almost done.

http://hostmyfile.net/files/24263.jpg

I get the Text To glow by going to the Outer Glow tab in the Blending Options and playing with it.

10.Now press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E on the top layer if everythings not on one layer. Everything will copy to that layer. You can delete all the other layers then.

Now its time for a border. Go to the Images>Canvas Size option and extedn the canvas 3 pixels or whatever you want. Then fill the open area with whatever color you want after you have centered your Signature.

And your done.

The Text I use is Called 1942 Report. Its Reall nice for this type of thing.

I don't think you have the right Photoshop program. This can be done with Photoshop 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and so on.

You will all probably think this is a dumb question, but my problem isn't making a signature -- I've got one ready to go -- but I can't figure out how to get it into my posts. When I go to the "edit signature" section, there doesn't seem to be any way to load it.

Any help?

This link will help you:

Photobucket - Online image hosting website

Once you've made an account load up the images you want, then coppy their .urls or .jpg (depending on whether it's an avatar or signature) and paste it into the signature or avatar section.

You can download a free 30 day trial of Adobe Photoshop from the official website once you register

However I use a program called Corel Photopaint to make my sigs, I feel it is easier to use than Photoshop, however I have been using Corel for years :naughty:

Photopaint is a good program however, I highly recomend trying it out

i do use psp 8.0 [my company not yet moved to 9.0] to earn my money and like this soft very much, maybe it does not LOOK as PRO as PS from CSuite, but i find it equally usefull, with some minor [dis]advantages

at home i use GIMP, with similar results, this is also very powerfull tool, but unfortunatelly requires huge amount of work to get used to it - i like to be legal, and GIMP is totaly free

here is a wallpaper i did with gimp some time ago [jpegized sky is not an error is a feature] [Half Life 2 Canals level]
