Re: PPsh 41 WTF ? N00b Americanz Yeah, the designs may be similar, but not the same gun. MG3 and MG42 are similar in many ways, but definatly not the same weapon. Ditto for the AK47 and AK74. |

other than the MG 3 being chambered in .308 there is not much diffrence to the MG 42. The only other weapon, produced in large numbers, that used MG-42 roller locking, is a Czech-made vz.52 pistol, not to mention the MG-3 machine gun, which, in this respect, is the same as MG-42. |
Re: PPsh 41 WTF ? N00b Americanz Actually, many countries, Spain for one, use the ORIGINAL MG42. Also, COmrade, I have talked with US soldiers in Frankfurt Ariport. Nomatter what you think, one they pick up the guns regularly, one guys siad he had his issue M4, and AK, and a SKS rifle! THere is no logistics nightmare, as you just fire until you run out of ammo, and then you either find more ammo, or you just throw the gun away! |

The ORIGINIAL MG42 uses the 7.92x57mm round. :p Spain uses modified MG42s. The main difference between the MG42 and MG3 is that the MG3 has a reduced ROF. |
Re: PPsh 41 WTF ? N00b Americanz The MG3/MG42 is still held as the fastest firing Machine gun to date which means its ROF wasn't reduced by much. Miniguns and the Vulcan series are not considered to be in the same category. |
Re: PPsh 41 WTF ? N00b Americanz NOpe, I am dead serious, Not the MG3, but the good old WW2 MG42. I have a pic of it in a book on small arms. |
Re: PPsh 41 WTF ? N00b Americanz Quote:
These MG42s are not ORIGINALS in so far that they have been modified, mainly to accept a different caliber (usually 7.62x51mm) . Even the Bundeswehr used those modified MG42s (but they were then called MG1). |
Re: PPsh 41 WTF ? N00b Americanz OK, I thought you thought that I had mistaken it for MG42. Ok. |
Re: PPsh 41 WTF ? N00b Americanz Von Mudra, stop watching james bond. |
