I don't know about the other countries but in canada November 11th is a day to commemorate the veterans who fought in combat and/or peacekeeping missions.
There porbably aren't any reading this but truly thank you.
Here in Britain we have a Nation wide 2 min Silence on the 11th hour or the 11th day of the 11th month, The Radio at work even went silent.
"I'm sorry, but when humans become extinct, The world will go with them, There is no point to having an Earth Without humans and God would destroy it along with the people."

We have a Veterans Day here in America, yet you would never know by watching the news, or reading the newspaper. The only columns ever written about Veterens Day in most newspapers are found on either the 7th or 8th page, or in the Lifestyles/Variety section. It makes me very sad. I called my uncle who served in Vietnam, thanked him and payed my respects so at least someone cares. The media obviously doesn't.
Here's to the veterans of combat, no matter what the nation, hopefully the lives that were lost were well worth the peace. (raises and drinks a shot of whiskey)
