Re: Talvisota (Winter War)...

pearl harbor was pretty bad... However I did like the fact that they had a missile cruiser blowing fake charges. People like me can't tell the diference between modern naval vessels and vintage ones. I think it was cool to see how HYPER realistic the aerial combat was.
...anyway
My favorite ww2 movie was Das Boot.

Das boot is the best war movie ever. And modern naval vessels have very few guns, and the destroyers nowadays have only one small cannon. WWII destroyers had around 4 large guns...2 in front and 2 in back. The bridge was also quite low, whilst in the movie, the destroyers' bridges distinctly stick out in the front...

I know, my friend. I was just kidding. Thanks for helping, though. The ships (the ones that weren't CG) in that movie were so obviously modern, and the non CG explosions were like smoke charges or something. I hate Disney. For some reason that movie seems like its elbowing me in the ribs, cajoling me into a state of ignorant contentedness. It feels like the immense scope of the subject with which the film deals reaches far beyond the abilities of whomever is responsible for its delineation and its execution, and, the fingerprints of clumsy hands hang heavily and invisibly on the piece and the whole deal feels like a sneaky lie somehow.

The only thing I do not get, is why they didn't computer animate some of the destroyers instead of using modern ones. It would have been a lot cheaper, realistic...and they could have even got the ships right....
