NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

Hello all,

My team needs the Battlefield 1942 Forgotten Hope .lst and cfg files so we may begin mapping for FH once again, in battlecraft 42.

Please, if any of you guys can get me the newest ones ( large amount of objects show up etc. ) PM me or reply in this post.

Thanks,
Apple

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

You can't...

BC has a limit of 1024 objects that it can display...
FH has over 5000 objects if you count all statics, kits & vehicles + ambient effects for mapping...

You have two choices:

1) Handpick 1024 objects that you want to use, making your maps limited in design

2) Use Editor42 and be able to not only display every object and vehicle, but also how they look in-game. (BC doesnt show you objects it shows you StandardMesh)

If you refuse to use Ed42 you need to make your own .lst file, which is easy, but boring... for example you can make two separate .lst files, one with all the static objects, and one with for example vegetation and kits etc.. problem is, when you load BC with .lst#1 (statics) and you wanna place things from .lst#2, you'll end up having hundreds of statics overlapping or be misplaced as BC doesnt display "unknown" statics, like Editor42 does, so you will have no idea where to place things.....

My suggestion is take the number of hours it takes to learn editor42, which will be roughly the same amount of hours it will take you to configure BC, with the difference that your maps will be a lot better in the end.

Well I've already had the FH. lst and cfg files. They worked fine, made plenty a map with them.

Maybe you should get Bc42 2.1 ...

2.1 is the only version that you can use... its been out since 2004 I think..

Sure you can map with it, but you will not be able to have access to all objects in FH, which will make your maps... limited in design..

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

80-85% of the objects show up.

The only objects really that I would like that I wish show up are the weapon kits.

I've made dozens of FH maps with it, so it's really not a big concern to me. After my teams first map-pack we may be upgrading to Ed42, however.

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

80% of the objects in Bf1942 + FH....? There is easily more than 4000 objects combined, I dont see the math if 1024 is 80% of 4000..

but anyway, you can just add those kits yourself, for ex:

1us_officer=(StandardMesh) thompson

(This will display the StandardMesh of the Thompson in your BC, but will place the actual kit ingame)

etc..

you dont need all kits in FH, just put those into your .lst file that you plan to place on this map..

Same with vehicles, just have those in the .lst that you're going to place on the map... this way you "save" more spots for Static Objects..

Here's a tip for you about Vegetation.

1) Run Shadow process when the map is finished. (use a not too dark shadow color) Also run ObjectLightmaps now
2) Load the map with an empty StaticObjects.con
3) You will see where buildings etc are, remember BC has a limit of 2048 placed objects on a map
4) Place all the pieces of grass and trees and bushes you want to place, place all 2000 in one go, avoid the shadowed places (this is where for ex, houses, sandbags etc are.. you dont want trees here)
5) Save the map
6) Copy all the lines from the new StaticObjects.con
and paste it into your old statics list (the one you saved on your desktop when you loaded BC with an empty statics.con)
Back up this big statics list now
7) pack the map and start BC again, it will give you an error that you have too many statics, ignore this, run shadow process again
(using also a not too dark color) when its finished save the map
8) unpack the map and import the big statics list
9) pack the map and load the game... you will have all the objects visible, shadowed and lightmapped, also the trees and bushes will have shadows..

Complicated, all because of the stupid 2048 objects limit in BC...

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

I ment 80% of the FH objects. Just a general statement. For instance, if you said, Half of the FH objects show up.

But anyway...

We are mostly keeping the kits the same, some maps, of course, will be be different kits then what BC would normally put in.

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

bf1942 might have 500 objects... FH has over 4000....

BC dont put any kits... also your kits wont correspond to your map.... I dont know exactly for what purpose you're doing the maps (sorry) but if you want precision you need to make your own kits... how can BC know what country, what year, what helmets and backbacks and what weapons and what uniforms to choose for you..?

I really, honestly, suggest you configure your own kits, pick suitable uniforms from the FH texture gallery, then add the kits and the pickup kits manually into your map, its the only way to get it right... dont trust those old .lst files, they contain "basic" kits that are wrong/bad/outdated etc..

You can make nicer kits yourself.

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

Oh trust me I had plans of making the kits historically accurate, along with the uniforms.

My team is making new skins...

Oh nice!

Please don't take me wrong, Im not saying BC can't make good maps, its just that it really messes up alot of files for you.
For example init.con will be destroyed each time you save, making kits reverse to some obscure default setting.. Detail.dds file also gets reversed to vanilla bf1942 detail and env_files also gets trashed..

If I were you, I'd prepare all the files and folders in an unpacked map somewhere on your harddrive, then extract only those files that you edited in BC, then pack the unpacked map and drop into levels folder to test it.
Trust me this is the best way of making sure you have full control over your map and the files inside it.

Can I ask what you plan to do with your maps?

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

Oh yea, trust me m8. I've been mapping for years, I've always used BC because thats what I was taught to use. But I've had annoying file problems ever since. After this map-pack I might move on to Editor 42. Even if my team doesn't, I can still use ed42 for my own personal use.

Here is our website ( we are a 3 week old tea ): MMD - Home

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

Ok :D

Don't you wanna make maps for our tournament instead?

You can still make the map-pack, just localize your maps in the theatre that we play (which is now a Normandy campaign)... Its by far the best testing area a map can get, since the map gets played on full servers by organised players, all bugs and balance-errors are located before the battles.. after the campaign is finished you can use all th criticism and comments our players give and finally update your maps before releasing the mappack publicly...

I seriously advice you to consider this, and you'll be very welcomed to our community as mappers... just talk to dutch and he'll send you through to the right people.

Well I've already spoke to dark about it.

As of now my team and I are to busy to make a mappack, a mod and tournament maps all at the same time. And we have to put our stuff first, of course.

might someone upload the lst and cfg files? or pm them? i lost them and cant find them ><

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

At this point in the game I don't think very many people have them anymore. Your best bet is to use Editor 42 to edit your levels once you have created them in BC.

How does one un-burry such an old thread?

What happened with that mod?

Re: NEED newest FH.07 .lst and cfg files

i got one, made by me myself...using the old file of course.

you need to pick your own favourates kit and vehicles, and the list might not be complete and it lacks statics and effects.

Customlistandconfigv2.rar - FileFront.com

and editor 42 is better but it lags like crazy for me :(
