Because the other mods do not have custom shaders (depth-of-field), like FH2 does.

Let me rephrase that. While PR uses modified shaders for stuff such as suppression (at least last time I've played it), FH2 introduces shaders for situations where they normally don't exist, such as depth-of-field while aiming through the ironsights. Due to a bug in the current version of BF2, this necessitates the workaround with the cache-swapping and a custom executable.

Could you point out your problem again and what you have tried so far, your system specs, driver version and all the needed info.
i lost track of the conversation and the info is scattered over many pages.

I appreciate the willingness to help, but I honestly can't be bothered to take this much time to get it to work when others are so easy. Sorry. I hope the next release is different.

The first problem has to do with the custom shaders FH2 uses. FH2.exe makes a backup of the BF2 shaders and then replaces them with its own shaders. If you experience a shaky, black and white screen, then FH2 is not using its own shaders. This problem can have a variety of causes, but these fixes should get rid of the problem:
- Make sure you run FH2.exe, do not start FH2 from BF2.exe!
- Delete your shader cache. You can find this cache under "My Documents/Battlefield 2/mods/fh2/cache".

Also sometimes FH2's 187 KB shaders_client.zip and shaders_client.zip.backup seem to disappear from fh2 folder. It happened to me for example. I solved it by extracting the shaders_client.zip from the FH2 installation .exe. I've uploaded them to a file hosting website so it may help other people, as it helped torex in this thread.

So another method of trying to solve this problem would be (for FH 2.15 at least):
- Try placing these in your EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\fh2 folder:

So, after for some reason my BF2 got messed up, I decided to completely reinstall my whole BF2 and mods. After reinstalling everything I noticed some annoying things:
In-game I constantly get these help messages that tell me how the game works. Every BF2 tip is read by an english voice which is extremely annoying (I f*cking know how the game works! Stop telling me this all the time!). Plus it seems like I can´t save the settings in the "options->game options" tab. So I have to change the crosshair colour everytime I want to play. It´s nothing serious but I´m sure it will drive me nuts one day. Every help is greatly appreciated
