Before joining a server, try to set your controls to "default". Then make your controls settings again.
When this is done, LEAVE the game, and find the file that A.Braun talks about and make a copy of it somewhere.
Its annoying, but I think it is the only way around it for now.

Okay i fixed the crashing problem and fixed the control problems everything was running fine then today the first server i join the round ends and my game crashes pretty much unplayable since i'm not the only person getting this problem i would say it needs to be resolved urgently no other mod i've ever downloaded has done this or is doing this rite now it's only FH2

I installed a fresh version of BF2, ran it once (to make "mods" folder in the Docs and Settings Battlefield 2 folder) and installed a fresh version of FH2. I have the 1.41 patch installed. I downloaded the complete collection and other mods (Point of Existence 2) are installed and working. Whenever I start FH2, I use the "fh2.exe" and get "Failed to move 'Battlefield 2/Mods/fh2' to 'Battlefield 2/Mods/bf2': The system cannot find the file specified." After this I click continue, but it takes me to a "run FH2 by using fh2.exe, not bf2.exe. update your shortcuts. The only option at this point is to Alt-F4. The directory I have Battlefield 2 installed in is "C:\Program Files\Games\BF 2". PLEASE HELP

FH2 for BF2 troubleshooting

Ok I was playing FH2 this afternoon and I did not have the shaders blurr bug.

This evening I log on and fancy playing some of the WaW maps and click on Lebanon, and behold I have the shader bug!

I have been playing the WaW maps the last few evenings on and off with no such problems.

When I click the FH2 start Icon I get a pop up window saying :-

“Failed

Failed to move ‘battlefield2/mods/bf2’ to ‘Battlefield2/mods/bf2.tmp’: Cannot create a file when that file allready exists”



Ok first thing I do is delete the logo and graphics cache using the FH2 toolbox .
I Have also deleted the files in the My Documents / Battlefield 2 / mods – folder (as suggested for problem 2 on the first thread by Lightning.)


I check to see the EA Games / bf2 /mods file and there is a ‘shaders_client.zip.backup’ file there which is 187 KB and I reckon that’s the FH2 shaders file that I moved there months ago when the patch came out to get the whole thing to work.


So I check the size of my backed up Vanilla shaders ‘shaders_client.zip-vanilla’ and that is 219KB, so Oviously these are two different shaders and the Vanilla one is NOT in the bf2/mods location.

BUT when I look in mods / fh2 the ‘shaders_client.zip.backup’ is 219 KB exactly the same size as the Vanilla shaders. Eh?


So I’ve tried both non vanilla shaders 187KB and 219 KB and restarted FH2 but the cursed b&w effect is still there on the rifle zoom


What has happened?
What’s going on?
Fine for months then KAPOWW black and White again?
Can a shaders file get corrupted? Do I need a new one?


It’s been fine for months, I’ve been helping newbies out on the servers nearly every night by explaining the shaders swap and now I’ve bloody got it again!

Ok one thing I’m noticing, in EA Games mods/bf2 there is a file icon named ‘shaders’ which is empty.

Now previously I just had the ‘shaders_client.zip.backup’ in amongst everything else in the mods/bf2 file.
Should this .zip file be in mods/bf2 – and actually in the file marked ‘shaders’?

It wasn’t in there before but yet it was working fine? (Nope just tried it doesn’t work)

What do I need to do HELP!

I have the original Vanilla and FH2 files safe do I need to rename anything?

BTW should the icon of these .zip shader files look like 3 books on top of each other or like a white blank page icon with the top right corner curled.

Anyway I have what I think is the fh2 .zip file only in the bf2/mod location. I shouldn't have this shader problem right?

Wow. I seem to have the exact same problem as you, Capten_C. 2.1 had been fine for a while and now I have the shader bug. Its about the same effect as when you get damaged; everything is all wavy. It makes zooming in with rifles a useless operation; it's very frustrating.

I suddenly got the shader problem, too. It worked fine for month and now I can´t seem to get it fixed. i thought it had something to do with PR0.8. I think I´ll reinstall FH2.1, hope that solves the problem.

Yes I had to reinstall everything and it was ok again.
I haven't played BF2 since, which is a shame, I miss a bit of Karkand I.O. mayhem.
My cousin has played bf2 on my PC since the reinstall but he has a different account, fingers crossed for the reinstall!

ok now I´m pretty pissed. Vista won´t install FH2, as soon as I click on the exe my explorer crashes. Anyone experienced something similar?

edit: ok, apparently Vista needs 5 minutes to start a process. great.
