cant play FH2 multiplayer crash
 
Hi forum, new problem here. For some reason when i click on a server to join it it says "connecting to server" for like 1 second, and then it goes straight to desktop. It doesnt do it if i create my own server. whats wrong? i recently installed FH1 on my PC again and i havent played FH2 scine. could that be why? any ideas are welcome, thanks in advance

Hey i just tried vannilla bf2 an di cant join multiplayer games their either! whats going on? I'm sad and pissed!

BF2 patched to 1.41? The version shown ingame upper right corner for the latest BF2 is: 1.1.2965-797.0
If you see a different number you need the latest patch.

yep its the same version. so thats in line. I almost killed my computer by messing with the system restore and stuff thinking i could roll back my hardrive and stuff but that didnt work so now im back to where I was. Able to play FH1 but cant play FH2

Since you wrote that there is a problem with vanilla BF2 also i suggest to reinstall.

K ill try that. I lost my disk so I'll have to go and buy another one. Is there a specific order or procedure i should follow, like do i unistall FH2 first, and then BF2? do i have to manually delete files and remove things from the registry?

It should be enough with deleting all files manualy after install since the bf2 isntaller *should* replace the existing registry keys.

is it possible that B1942 and FH1 are some how conflicting with BF2 and FH2. I mention this because FH2 was working fine, and then I installed 1942 and ever sence it seems BF2/FH2 havent worked in multiplayer.

Never had a problem like this. I've just installed BF1942 and FH 0.7 again while BF2 and FH2 was already installed, both vanilla games and the mods work without problems. I just need to disable one CPU core for the BF1942.exe via the taskmanager when playing FH 0.7, otherwise it crashes on most maps after some time playing. In FH2 i have to lower a few video settings to run smooth because it requires more power than vanilla BF2.

Suggested install order for BF2 by EA:

To ensure a proper installation of the Battlefield 2 series, please install in the following order. If you do not have all of the expansion and booster packs, please skip and install the next software on the list.
  1. Install Battlefield 2.
    Note: If you have the Battlefield 2 Deluxe pack, install and skip to step 3.
  2. Install Battlefield 2: Special Forces.
  3. Install the 1.41 full patch, which can be found here.
  4. Install Battlefield 2: Armored Fury.
  5. Install Battlefield 2: Euro Force.
  6. Install the 1.41 full patch once again.
Once this is done, you will have the complete installation of the Battlefield 2 series lineup.
When BF2 is installed and patched to 1.41 you can install FH2.
I just can't find infos on the version that comes with BF2 The Complete Collection, but i guess it might be 1.41 already.
