| Here is a list of common problems (if you think anything is missesing let one of the staff know). First of all make sure that you meet the requirements to run FH2. I suggest to read the FH2 wiki (You can find it here), this should answer most install and gameplay questions. ---------------------------------------------------------------- What you need to play FH2: From Forgotten Hope Wiki Forgotten Hope 2 is a total conversion modification of Battlefield 2. What you do need
---------------------------------------------------------------- FH2 and Windows Vista? FH2 should be able to run on Windows Vista, though you should run FH2 on an account with Administrator permissions on your computer. To run FH2 as an administrator, right click the program, then run as administor. You can also setup this in the shortcut with advanced option in properties. Source: Credits go to Fenring The FH2 Toolbox (which ships with FH2) has not been designed for Vista, it should still be able to run though when you use an account with administrator acces. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Problem 1) FH2 won't run / it crashes to desktop: Solution 1A: Be sure you thaat you installed FH2 properly. To install the game: 1) Install BF2Solution 1B: Make sure you start (and exit) the game properly. FH2 uses custom shader effects. Without the game being launched and closed properly shader effects may cause various (graphcal) problems. 1) Run FH2.exe, and FH2.exe only! Do NOT launch BF2.exe and use the Community tab to switch to FH2.---------------------------------------------------------------- Problem 2: BF2 won't start, it gives a "you are running a modified version, please revert to the current official version" error: Solution 2: This is caused because FH2 was not closed properly. The game still uses FH2 shaders because of this an therefor it won't run BF2 (or other mods) properly. To fix this: 1) Start FH2.exe and exit the game properly---------------------------------------------------------------- Problem 3: FH2 Won't uninstall! Solution 3: The uninstaller currently does not remove FH2 properly. You will have to remove it yourself: 1) Try to remove FH2 using the Windows software wizard: Start > Configurationscreen > Software > Select FH2 and chose to remove.---------------------------------------------------------------- Okay I can play FH2, but Punkbuster (PB) is giving me troubles! This is probably caused ebcause Punkbuster could not be auto updated (solution: Do a manual update) or because some softwae (firewall) blocks PB. Consult the PB website for more information:PunkBuster Online Countermeasures ---------------------------------------------------------------- Last tip: FH2 doesnt start! Hopefully this sticky can cover the most common troubles and errors with FH2. Note though that I'm not an expert on this sort of stuff and I may not be around. So if you need help I suggest to post in these forums, do not PM me with your problems since I might not be able to help and may not be able to answer (fast). | About Problem 2: I still get the same "Fix your shortcuts" error page whenever I try to launch the .exe file of FH2. I checked the shader files in the places listed. I only found 2 places among your list of 4 that had files. I deleted them and tried again. Didn't work. Then I re-installed FH2. Still no luck. Can't seem to get passed this. Any help would be appreciated. I'm running: XP Pentium 4 3.466GHz 2.5 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 6800 |

| I was having problems with fh2.exe not being able to copy files to certain directories. This messed up shaders on several maps and caused me issues. To solve this I set the compatability mode to Windows XP for FH2.exe and BF2.exe This has fixed the shader issues and some random lag issues I had in game. I think the fh guys should encourage Vista users to set compatibilies to XP. |

| I'm also haveing issues on Vista 64 bit home Premium! I can run PR just fine, and even EOD but FH2 won't run it gives me a long list a errors for failed to move files crap, and then claims I did not run the game with the HF2.exe even though I did in the first place. BTW my BF2 works just fine without compat use at all. I'll try it though and see, as mine won't even start or load the menu without giveing crap like this. IMHO you should of planed for Vista users, and all their OS versions. Not doing so is just plain stupid, and mean to all the high end quad core CPU, and 8800GTS users on Vista like myself.

| I downloaded FH2 with a torrent via your download page, but the rar file is password protected. It lists three websites in the rar file from where I could get the password, but they're all in German. I can't find it through Google search either. |

| Nevermind. On a whim I tried >>important-=-read-=-the-ReAdMe<< You know, that really doesn't look like a readme. I was just trying to get to the rtf file in the rar... |

| Iīm gonna ask this question for the 40th time.I hope someone got a solution. I have a long time issue with BF2 and its mods (speacially on the mods). When I load a game,I play for a certain amount of time, and then it crashes to desktop. The time that the game runs before crashing is different in my mods. EoD2 crashes quickly,DCon used to crash even more quickly,FH2 takes longer. It also depends on the map I run, small maps donīt seem to crash, larger ones are more keen to do it. EVERYTHING on my computer is OK,I even got a very nice GPU yesterday with the hope that this problem was going to be history. However,it still hapens. I read yesterday that I am not the only poor bastard with the BF2 crashing to desktop. There are a lot more people complaining,so I read in a forum that the game crashes because we have two RAM memory sticks and that we need to remove one of them. Is that true? |
