| i guess we'll have to face it, if the dev team can't give us a decent solution, fh1 will die. hopefully we get a solution soon, cuz fh2 is a horrible mod compared to fh1 |

| Well, it just feels totally different But I guess neither EA/DICE nor Evenbalance (Punkbuster) will help us out here |

| So I wanna dig deeper into this problem so I logged the map-loading and compared the results (left is crash with Windows-XP compatibility, and on the right is the working log with Windows-98 compatibility) Of course there are more changes in the files but these are the most interesting ones, although as of right they dont make any sense to me. |

| you know, i think it will work again with Windows 7, so all hope is not lost. Windows 7 will be coming out in the next few months (i've seen the last Beta, don't ask me how)and i think BF1942 will word fine, including FH1.

| i am running WIndows 7 beta. I am about to do a New install of Vista, on another drive. This will be my first time installing Vista, and I am going to get some FH in before I give XP the 'ol heav-ho. AFter I get Vista installed, I will attempt to install FH on Vista. AFter I get that running (can't go too long without smoe FH) I will attempt to run it on WIndows 7 beta, and see if I have luck. I'll post here when I do, but don't get your hopes up. Window 7 beta has very little (if any) driver support as of yet. Nvidia did come out with some preliminary W7 drivers already, so kudos to them!

| Well, my Vista install has been terrible. At least as far as FH goes. I am getting terrible artifacts right away, on the game browser screen. I didnt even bother trying the game, as I am sure I have a major GPU driver issue. I have not seen this on the first page "known issues", and have not yet read all the pages in this thread, and hopefully doing so will provide a fix. Anyone else get this problem? As far as I know, I have the latest nvidia drivers for my 7800 gt. I am running Vista 64bit on an AMD dual core 2ghz on a DFI socket 939 mobo. No bios revisions. No ocing on either proc., or GPU. 2x1024 (2 gigs) ram. I checked after BF1942 instal, and it seemed to run great. I have not attempted W7 instal of FH yet, sorry.

| WHere's the 'edit' key? Well, I seemed to have solved the video driver issue in Vista. I still have crackly sound from Audigy 2zs S/C (well known, and documented driver compatibilty issue for Vista+nF4+Creative. I still cannot load FH in Vista, with PB enabled. Nor can I play bf1942 with PB enabled. Good news, is I can at least play both Bf1942, and FH on W7. I had very similar problems to begin with (video driver, and crackly S/C.) and I still can't play with PB enabled. But I have gotten to it run, with very few crashes on non-pb servers. Figures. That POS program has been pissing me off, ever since I started playing. Maybe it's time we all just got rid of it? The FH community is alot smaller, and the admins do a pretty good job of handling cheaters. There's enough people that know the game good enough, to point out people that might need watching.

| Hi all! 1. Yes FH for BF1942 runs fine on Windows7 Bêta but only in "Windows98-me" compatibility mod; but unfortunaly we get (after all updates at this time 2009 February 1 st) the same compatibility problem and Punkbuster problem). The only solution at this time is to play FH;FHSW;Norwegian Resistance; and FHT and FH extended on server no protected by Punkbuster. Please see this topic: http://forums.filefront.com/bf1942-p...ers-tests.html 2. Now I think Windows7 Bêta version (like all Vista version) : a. To prevent viruses and others attacks some memory zone are protected (it's forbiden to use this protected zone for programmes). b. In this eventuality (condition?) FH cannot run in "no compatibility mod" or in compability mod "WindowsXP" in windows7 bêta version because (and it's not luck (chance?)) FH needs to use a part of this forbidden memory zone. 3. As you see always I think a patch for FH will be necessary to run it on servers protected by Punkbuster (punkbuster protected) if your OS is Windows7Bêta version. 4. Conclusion (End of my answer (response)) : Please download and install Windows7 Bêta (it's free) and install BF1942 and its Mods. When you meet a problem send a "FEEDBACK" to Microsoft. 5. Send also all punkbuster problems on Punkbusted.com (I send a message to them) but no answer at this time!
