I got very annoying problem with Vista and FH. I'm using FH in Win 98 compability mode, but when I use compability mode with FH my widescreen resolution is fucked up(640x480 default). I have changed resolution from Video.con but it seems 98 compability mode somehow cannot read manually modified and "only read" checked .con files. Widescreen resolutions works fine with vanilla without compability mode. Anyone got solution for this?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
guys, i think i have the solution to our problems.
i have downladed Forgotten Hope Secret weapons and installed it over the existing FH(0.7) installation. now it doesn't crash after a map has finished and i just played 5 maps in a row, it does crash once in a while, but not so much that it gets irritating. since you can play te normal FH maps(they now have blue FH letters in front of the mapname, but that's just the FHSW icon) but they are just the same... i think, lol

also, i turned UAC off(configurationscreen, or whatever its namen in english ->> user accounts ->> UAC (user account control))
i run the game in win98/ME compatibility mode and the BF1942.exe is too on 98/ME.

well, that's all i have to tell you, i think. if there are any questions, please post them here, i'll check back now and then, and otherwise, i'm sure Sgt.garcia, or any of the other members will know

edit:btw, i have a widescreen(1440-990), and it just works fine for me....

I also found the solution. Upgrade back to XP. Best solution ever really.

PS. Totally lost my nerve with Vista...

nice!

basically everyone with FH-42 still installed should get FHSW, no reason not to get it..

if you see that blue icon in the map list, it means FHSW are the active mod, but if you connect to a regular FH server it will switch to FH 0.7...

First thank you very much about your interest about this problem!
I get some questions for you :

1. Did you try to play on many servers which are protected by Punkbuster last version?

2.Did your Pc crash on some maps?

3.If you play "long time" (one hour or more ) on the same server (I say server with Punkbuster) did Punkbuster kick you? (are you kicking by Punkbuster? ) .

4. Did you get Punkbuster's last version please?

5. And if you play on FHSW servers or on Forgotten hope tournament's servers (FHt mod) can you play on these servers?

Thank you very much for your future responses (answers), and sorry, excuse me please for my very special English language!

Best regard and cordialy!

I'll give a shot to Nighthawk4's "solution" today and give a word does it work on FH/FHSW servers. I'll post back here in few hours or so.

Or has someone else tested this already and found out that it works or does not?

*Edit* Attempted to join FH server, crashed even quicker, had no loading "background" screenie, cant distinquish FHSW servers from FH servers so i dont know does this work on FHSW servers, but still for me it doesnt work. (Got UAC off, Compability mode setted to win 98/ME, Fresh FHSW install over FH)

God, mass request to Punkbuster that they make small fix patch that Vista users can use mods online..

i can answer all of these questions at once: no, i can't tell, cause i don't have a legal version of BF1942. (and i'm sad about it, i bought it, but apparently they don't enter the serials, so i can't go online anyway.)

well, i seems to have some problems with the Desert Rose map. and sometimes it does work, and other times you get into about 10 mins of the game and it crashes.

i hope that answers your questions. i'll be checking back soon here (on this page... =_= ")

Hi all Comrades !

1. Thank you very much about your responses (answers).

2. I tried to install fhsw on a fresh install of FH (on a pc test), it does not run generally and not on servers of course.

3. Now the only solution to play FH if your Pc runs on Vista OS is to downgrade Punkbuster and you can play on PFC's servers .

Best regard and cordialy!

downgrading pb will not help. it'll automatically update itself. deleting the update file won't help. u'll get kicked cuz it can't update. setting compatability to 98 causes ur sound to be glitchy and a loss of ability to join pb servers. another solution is needed
