Exclamation FH1 for BF1942 Installation and download guide

Installation and download guide for:
__________________

- BF1942 and patches
- FH 0.7
- Punkbuster
- and further optional files.

__________________

Go to the FH download section and download file 1,2 and 3 OR download the full file. Keep in mind that these files are about 2gb in total.

Next download BF1.6.19 update and the 1.61b patch from the EA public ftp. Or if they are slow find some other mirrors trough google, there are plenty of them

- Battlefield 1942 1.6.19 (274 MB)
- Battlefield 1942 1.6.19 to 1.61b (6.4 MB)

The installation guide:
  1. Install a fresh Bf1942 (pretty obvious of course ), make sure you also install Punkbuster if you want to play online
  2. Install Battlefield 1942 1.6.19
  3. Install Battlefield 1942 1.6.19 to 1.61b
  4. Install either the FH files 1-3 OR the full install (depending on what you downloaded)
  5. --> FH can be played offline and on servers without Punkbuster<--
  6. Punkbuster manual update (if the autoupdate fails, which it usually does):
    • For Players Filename: pbsec.htm
    • PB Client v1.179 for Win32 Filename: wc001179.htm
    • PB ClientA v1331 for Win32 Filename: wa001331.htm
    • Now go to your BF1942/Punkbuster folder "..\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\pb" and copy the pbsec.htm file into this directory
    • Next go the the htm subfolder and copy wc001179.htm and wa001331.htm into this directory
    • You have now successfully updated Punkbuster and can play online on servers which require it (most of them, if not all, have this mandatory setting)
  7. (optional1) To get faster into the game menu, create a shortcut from your BF1942.exe and add +restart 1 +game FH to the target path. This will bypass the intro movie and will start the game into FH so you don't have to switch to it manually every time you start the game. Of course if you use something like allseeing eye or gamespy you won't use this much, but it can be handy if you don't use third-party programs to join a server.
  8. (optional2) Historical Texture and Sound, Official mappack #6
I think I have posted all the information needed to install Bf1942 and FH0.7 successfully

Posted this in a response to a lot of questions similar to this issue. There seems to be quite some confusion on howto install this mod successfully

On your main webpage under downloads you can download the modification forgotten hope. There are 3 files that you need to download. there are several smaller files under each main file. do yo download each small file or is there one file you can go to get all the files for 1-3. If you could e-mail me on the answer it would be greatly appreciiated.
I would really like to play forgotten hope.

Just follow the guide, it doesn't mention anything about server files now does it

Server files are just that, files used by dedicated servers. You only need them IF you want to run your own dedicated server. To connect to one of the FH servers, you could use gamespy or all seeing eye or even the ingame multiplayer list and filter them to only show forgotten hope servers. Much like most other games actually...

Hang on, what would happen if the game weren't patched up to 1.6.1b?

You would not be able to join the online servers, as they run 1.61b. And you would get some bugs that have been fixed in the 1.61b patch. Mostly interface bugs relating to the scoreboard if I remember correctly.
