The Germans amassed at the border last week of Soviet Russia, launching an enormous blitzkrieg attack against the garrison of Minsk. What would be played in this battlefield is one of skills and advanced weaponry and patience of the commanders.

The battlefield was a very intricate chessboard of obstacles involving rivers, mountainous ranges and dense forestry including a large hill in the center of the conflict.

The 44th built up a impressive display of fortifications along their south-by-east parameters to repulse the hoard of German armor and infantry and including an variety of hand-held weaponry to combatant enemy armor and easily crush close quarters firefights. Otherwise the J43 brought with them several of their new, vaunted heavy armor the Tigers with also their new unique assault rifle the FG42 to beat back and obliterate the opposition with firepower.

And so it began. Infantry companies strode from their bases to meet one another in achievement of capturing eachother's strongholds, intense firefights ensued and men and woman came from a variety of passes, by sturmboats or trucks to deliver the attack but when desperation came to recapturing or reinforcing they went any way to an flag whether it toke the precious of time or lack of concealment.

The pilots strayed the skys looking for the juicy target to pounce upon or
Armor fought and moved cautiously much more than any soldier or pilot did although. The J43 tankers for example always stayed alert for the unsuspecting Sturmovik IL2 or the leopard of T34's encroaching upon them from the hills of the northern battlegrounds.

Also the 44th were blessed with bazooka's and numerical superiority in armor that made any other opposing vehicle very vulnerable and made clashes and ambushes be drawn into bittersweet moments.

This went throughout the battle and both divisions fought with as if they've always had the initative and ability to mop the other up but the 44th Regiment was with the support of an Reserve and despite the prowess of the J43, the battles were pitched into long back'en'forth sessions and this is firmly and primly so as both Commander in Chief of the 44th and J43 concluded that it was a very hard fought for battle that made eachother anxious but nevertheless exciting. As it came to be the conclusion was of a successful defense of Minsk by the 44th Regiment Marines and they are very proud of this.

Be prepared next week for the counterattack of the Bolsheviks.

On a personal comment, this was one of the finest battles I have seen and I am in tournaments since years. If you had a look at the scoreboard it was going back and forth.
5-0 Allies
5-5 both
6-5 Axis
6-6 both and so on and so on ... for almost 12 hours. And this although both sides pick their own equiptment without knowing what the other side will bring to battle.

This saturday the russian are on the attack and attack Danzig, map being played is Fall Weiss. The year right now is early 1943 so if you like this year and the eastern front .... sign up and join 12 hour organized gameplay with the mod we all love ... FH.

Just an update on World at War.

We are currently in the midst of our South East Asia theatre where the Japanese and the British are fighting it out in some really great battles.

Last week a battle took place on the converted Eve of Destruction map We Were Soldiers. Of course no helicopters though.

This week the armies face off over Hastings which should be an outstanding fight.

We are also continuing to add new vehicles and equipment. Including the Soviet 85mm AA.

If you are interested in an outstanding teamplay environment be sure to check out World at War.

Default Im Osten was Neues

Well Halftime Boys and Girls, we are all taking a week off after the dense Jungle Warfare of SE Asia but we are going to be back for an incredible second half of WaW-13. The Eastern Front with its endless plains, Western Europe with the Blitzkrieg, the Battle of Britain and the conquest of Fortress Europe and of course the Pacific with the Japanese coming back for more.

If you thought you've seen it all then this little Preview of the things to come will teach you otherwiese, enjoy what the Mappers and Admins have cooked up for you behind the Scenes.

New Battlefields

FHW - Kaukasus 1943

A new Map that made it into the campaign, donated by the friendly guys over at Forgotten Hope Warzone. Kaukasus will be the map for the Romanian Territory and has got something for everyone. Lots of rolling Hills and open plains for the Tankers and tough City fighting for the Infantry and in the blue sky deadly Dogfights will take place.

Desert Shield

Converted from a 21cw Map this one is no Desert anymore, Desert Shield will be the map for Breslau .. the last Stand of the Germans in Eastern Europe should it ever come that far. The snowy plains of the Reich are gonna shake when Soviets finest Armor Pieces are fighting in an all out Battle against the Germans in these deadly conditions. Infantry better gets that shovel and digs as deep as they can in the frozen ground to survive the hail of steel which is forcasted.

New Vehicles

Straigh from the the US of A comes a piece of equipment that they build but didn't want so what to do with it ? Send most of the 600 pieces produced of to Mother Russia. The Red Army in desperate need of Material after the inital dramatic losses were eager to use everything that rolls and shoots. Known as the T48 57mm in American Service it was renamed to SU-57 in Russian Service. Armed with the American Version of the British 6pdr it sure is an international piece of Equipment ready to bust some Germans Tanks.

The Vehicle was made by the Guys at Forgotten Hope Warzone and will cost 212 Points which ain't much for a L1943 Vehicle.

Of course you can also have a peek into the WaW Vehicle Showroom where other new Vehicles are being showcased as well. http://www.bfewaw.com/forumdisplay.php?f=69

New Gadgets

The Eastern Front was not only a War of Material, it was most of all a War of Manpower. The Spirit of an Army and their Soldiers could make a huge differance when facing the enemy in fierce fighting for several months. Keeping the Moral up and to rally their men was the prime task for the Officers of each side. Well that shouldn't be a problem with the new WaW Rally Points.

The "Hauptmann" of the German army will carry the German War Flag into Combat to inspire his men, when deployed it will create a Table on which his men can spawn for a given period of time. After this Period it will automaticly blow up. There will of course be a Russian version as well, both Version of course come with a Pistol for that extra bit of encouragement.

World at War (WaW) has said its farewells to FH and has made the full move over to FH2. After over 5 years of Battlefield 1942 gameplay, Campaign 15 is ready to kick off on an entirely new level. WaW puts players in the seat of a real division and full simulated war, complete with commanding officers, strategies and companies. The new campaign pits the British forces against the German and Italian forces in a fight for the control of Africa.

Many great features are included in World at War's 15th Campaign:
  • Entirely new gameplay on the recently released mod Forgotten Hope 2.
  • Battles involving 64 players in 32 vs 32 player battles.
  • Teamwork and advanced tactics in 12 hour battles involving hundreds of players across the world.
  • Organized squads of up to 6 players in a structured command situation.
  • Earn medals and awards that reflect your skill and dedication on the battlefield.
  • Rise through the ranks to eventually achieve full command of a squad, company or division.
