Far Cry freezes

I'll be playing Far Cry just fine for usually around 10 minutes when it will just freeze.
I have a pretty decent system (AMD 64bit 3000+, 1024mb ddram, RADEON 9600XT 256mb graphics card and 200mb hd space) so its not like it cant handle it.
Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still does it.

Do you have the latest Catalyst drivers?

Also, when was your last virus scan done? ...and is this online or SP, and does this only happen with this game?

When i hear freezing or lockup in a high-end game, i think overheating. its your core/card well cooled? For that kind of system i'd be looking at 500 watt fan cooling, or better yet, liquid cooling on the core. I have a Rad 9800 pro 256 mb at 5.3 catalyst drivers. i've heard less than stellar reviews about the 5.7 drivers. i don't think it's the drivers, although each computer is different...maybe it's the order you installed the patches. run anti-virus programs like spybot search and destroy as well as ad-ware pro editon. also, get the defragging software disklite.
