In the Dam level there is a bonus you can unlock, which is the ability to carry the mounted guns from the Buggy or Humvee with you on foot. In the case of the Humvee you can take either the Machine Gun or the Rocket Launcher, depending on which is selected before exiting the vehicle.
You can unlock this bonus with two different skill tricks. One is by getting to the Buggy without picking up any guns. The other is by driving the Buggy to the ledge above the Sniper Rifle.
After the bonus is unlocked, you can transfer from the Buggy to the Hummer to get the Rocket Launcher, but you must still avoid picking up guns while afoot.
This is a speedrun showing both the No Gun Sneak and the Buggy Trick, but does not show the use of the bonus. You can see the bonus being used in various ways in the No Dam Gun Alternate Endings & Outtakes video.
Mode is Realistic, level time 4:03, no damage was taken and no mercs were killed.
Here's a more robust way to utilize the No Gun or Buggy Trick bonus in Dam. Transferring from the Buggy to the Hummer allows you to up the anty by going afoot with the more powerfull Rocket Launcher. Your fate on foot remains the same though, no gun pickups allowed, or the trick ends!
There is also a short humor clip at the end showing the zany things that can happen when colliding with the big guys. The first Alternate Ending shown is a no damage run, level time about 5:00.
Although the original no music version of No Dam Gun Sneak reveals all the subtle in game sounds such as narrowly avoided mutants and bullets, this music added version came out quite well.
The title of the song used is also befitting of Jack's new found dilema in becoming mutated.
Yeah, it's quite fun to play with the Heavy Machine Gun and the Rocket Launcher, especially when you have 500 bullets or 30 rockets at your disposal without reloading. I always thought the mercs seemed to be able to reload their Rocket Launchers faster, which is quite annoying at times.
You must remember to not get carried away and forget to stock up on weapons before ending the level though, as the big guns from the bonus do not carry over to Volcano, where there is only ammo at the start. You also have to be very carefull how you aim the Rocket Launcher. It does not appear to fire from shoulder height like the others do, more from a hip position maybe. If the nearby ground is anywhere close to the target's line of sight, the rockets will hit the ground and explode in your face killing you.
Be forewarned that this trick does not always work consistently or predictably though. Once I got the bonus by sneaking to the Buggy even though I used the fixed gun in the wrecked chopper (didn't pick up any guns though). Another time I made it to the Buggy with no pickups or use of the fixed gun, yet got no bonus. I've also seen the bonus end sometimes when running over dropped weapons, and other times it doesn't. In other words, sometimes when you run over dropped weapons, you here the sound of picking them up, but they don't actually appear, and your bonus gun is still useable.
I also recall the first time I did this trick I was able to see Jack, even in 3rd person mode, though the Heavy Machine Gun and Rocket Launcher he carried from the vehicles never were visable. Now he is no longer visable in 1st or 3rd person, it may be due to the latest patch revisions.
This is solely a bonus awarded for skills achieved though, it is not a cheat and you do not need to be in Devmode to use it. I suppose some might call this the same as unlocking a cheat, but IMO, if you have to do something that requires a lot of skill and risk, you've earned a reward, and it's therefore a bonus, not a cheat.

Yes it is, but I can't take credit for it myself, someone over at Ubi's FarCry forum told me about it some time ago. I may have been the one to find that you could transfer the bonus to the Hummer's guns though, which is where it really gets fun. The person that told me about it didn't mention anything other than taking the Buggy gun.
I started making a video like this before, but after several tries couldn't achieve what I wanted, so I deleted all the clips and decided to put it off. I finally got enough clips together to make the entire video, and it only took 3 clips and 2 checkpoint saves.
There is obviously much more potential for using the big guns than is shown here. I kinda decided it would spoil people's fun too much if I showed more than I did. Enjoy rippin' em up with the big guns!

Nice videos. Some pretty close calls on the second video [outtakes], like going up the volcano ridge then driving down right on top of the complex. Not to nitpick, but isn't it the Volcano level and not the Dam level?

Thanks Capt, yeah, driving the Buggy up on that ledge is a bit tricky. They really got the sound and terrain composition right in making FarCry. The Buggy tends to slip a lot on that volcanic ash laiden soil, as you can hear by the sound of the tires spinning. It must be done with momentum and just the right line of approach, or the Buggy will slow down or fall into the lava.
Driving onto the wall of the level end is tricky too. To get up that high for the approach you need momentum too, which is part of the reason I crest the little knoll just above the sniper rifle shack, which also serves to hit the checkpoint.
Usually 3rd person view checkpoint saves don't edit that seamlessly. It's the only one I've ever been able to edit with virtually no visable way of seeing it in the video.
You can drive down onto the level end that way or by driving across the top and in from the other side, but the Buggy gets toasty from the volcano by then and you ususally get spotted before dropping in.
Many times I actually parked the Buggy atop the level end wall, but it's never long before the RL guy shoots you, and jumping down results in damage. You can see right through the building from up there, as the devs probably thought no one would want to go there.
If you sniped the RL guy first, you could literally park there without the other mercs below seeing you, yet you can see them, though it wouldn't do much good. On rare occaision I've been able to jump out of the Buggy onto the level end wall, while the Buggy explodes on the mercs below. That's another case where you get seriously injured or usually killed though.
Ironic that you thought that was the Volcano level because I always thought Dam had much better volcano scenes than Volcano does, but it is Dam. I was a bit disappointed the first time through the game when I saw how the volcano scenes in Volcano compared to Dam, but it's kind of cool and challenging in it's own way.
