| I need to make up my mind regarding a decent long-range rifle. The arms dealer missions allowed me to choose between some nifty arms, but I'm looking for a rifle that is silenced, or silenceable (I got the "Dragunow SVD", but it's a tad too loud... lol). Are there silencer upgrades for rifles like these? Also, is the dart rifle lethal, or does it only make targets "sleep"? |

| The dart rifle is the only silenced rifle with a scope. In my experience if you headshot them, they appear to die. I never stick around long enough to find out, it's just something I've read and experienced. In other words, once shot in the head, if anyone finds them it's the usual, "He's dead!" dialog. Even if you shoot them elsewhere it's pretty effective and quite stealthy. The main problem with the dart rifle is it's limited ammo capacity, though ammo caches do top it off. I would guess from what I've seen that this weapon is equivalent to a knock out tool wildlife management workers use for big game. If so, a headshot would probably kill a human and even a torso shot put them into nap time for hours.

| Awesome, thanks for the info. I guess the unlimited ammo cheat can help building a good relationship with the rifle |

| Hehe.. infiltrating camps with the Silent Marakov is damn fun, though as a primary weapon I've been running around with a Golden AK-47.. quite noisy. So I've changed the AK-47 to the Silent MP5, which proves quite effective with some well-aimed rounds, but I still wish to perfectionize my silent approach with a sniper rifle (and still don't get noticed) and clear the remaining AI with the Silenced Marakov / Machete while bush-hopping. I loved the stealth approach in Crysis on hardest difficulty.. clearing camps without using cloak with a single silenced cap per head (and fuel tank... lol). |

| Once I got the first sniper rifle, I never entered a situation guns blazing unless it was unavoidable. I'd just kill everything that moved in the target area before I went in and mopped up with my uzi. ![]() I used the biggest sniper rifle possible thru most of the game but I think that russian one was probably better. I had a greater ammo capacity per clip. I'm not sure what the pros and cons are between the 2 best sniper rifles. |

| In most scenarios, my best example is the train yard area, crouching down on a overlapping cliff - there it's easy to clear the entire outpost with a sniper rifle (the SVD in my case) without being shot at a single time since you're way out of reach. That is if you cap the snipers first.. The problem with carrying a primary rifle like that is when you get flanked and seriously depend on some close-range automatic firepower ... like when a car or SUV suddenly pulls over and the AI starts emptying slugs up your backside and you're out of grenades, lol. |

| Yeah obviously the sniper rifle is best used beyond the AI's view distance. Some places in the maps aren't too good for that though. Thus I find it's best for select missions. Get a hair too close and you wind up with a Jeep barreling at you. On the other hand you aren't necessarily caught off guard if you carry the Uzi and SAW along with the sniper rifle, and in a pinch you can always toss a nade or Molotov at a Jeep.

| I used the dart rifle almost exclusively for most of the game, but then I got tired of people noticing my silenced shots. They always start running at you so I figured I might as well just carry an M79, SAW and USAS and skip the foreplay. |

| The dart rifle does kill. The trailers and stuff made it out to only put enemies to sleep but in the game is does kill. And sort of upper body shot, head esp, will kill usually. Headshots always kill. Noise isn't a big deal, it's about how far they are away from each other and if they are looking at each other. I've taken guys out that were maybe 100 feet away from each other one by one. I think that's how the rifle was designed to be used, sam fisher-style. Also, should remember there is no bullet drop on the sniper rifles so if you can barely make it out on the screen [like when I was sniping on the resort across the river and behind some trees], you can hit it. The dragunov has the best accuracy. Noise isn't a factor to me in the game. I use the M79 in the pistol slot and if some car get's too close, BOOM, 1 shot it's all over. At most, you'll be tangling with 5 or 7 enemies. If you're any good at FPSes, it's not a big deal. The AI in FarCry2 is good with coming in behind and from the sides but most just run right at you.
