Default FC2 EPIC Moments

We all have problems with the game, but I'm sure we've all experienced a part where you just leaned back and went "...whoa".

On the mission to kill the first RPF leader, I made a river insertion at night (for once the stealth system worked properly) and I snuck up the mountain headshotting guards with my MP5. I get to the cliffside house, pick off the guards with my dart rifle, then quickly run across the bridge.

From how all the other scripted missions went, I was expecting an ambush, so before I killed the faction leader, I laid an IED by the door. Went in, capped the guy and then heard voices coming to the cabin. I waited until they got to the door, detonated the bomb and then ran through the smoke to the bridge. I blind fired a clip in their direction, got to the middle of the bridge...and jumped off, sailing into the river far below. Swam a for a bit, grabbed a boat and made a clean getaway.

Yeah, the game has it's moments, I encountered some fun stuff tonight. I was sneaking up on a locked guard station positioned at one end of a bridge on the river in late afternoon light. None of the guards could see me but interrupting my silent sneak was this crazy guy in one of those little Datsun cars stopped dead in the middle of the bridge bashing into the guard rail trying desperately to drive toward me. After several times bashing the rail he finally broke through it and proceeded to drive into the river below. I swear I could hear him gulping his last breath before he died. I had to sit there and just laugh a moment before continuing to concentrate on my sneak.

On my way to Michelle during a long foot trek to give her the defoliating canister, I was sneaking near a road in a spot with little cover. Again it was late afternoon light and I prepared for the worst as a Jeep with MG gunner drove by. I decided, what the heck, may as well try a pistol snipe with my Silent Makarov. They drove by me without spotting me and I knew if I didn't take them out they might see me on their way back, as the stretch up ahead had to be traveled close the the road. I took iron sight aim behind what was very inadequate cover were I to miss. In one shot I nailed the gunner in the back of the head from about 30 meters and instantly he flopped backward onto the road before the driver screeched to a stop. The driver could not see me so I took a moment, aimed carefully, and popped him in the head with one more shot as he was turning about to see whom had attacked.

I had a fun raid on Goka Falls too, this time going in early morning light vs night time like I did last run through. I snuck up the road this time instead of the footpath to the bridge. At the point where you get to a large boulder at a bend where you can finally see the lodge I accidentally ran into a guy that heard me and had to pop him. I then managed to sprint jump onto that boulder where they couldn't see me and proceeded to one by one pop most in the head with the pistol, saving the rest for the silent MP-5 when spotted peering over occasionally.

When I went in to assassinate the guy in the lodge no one was left except for one guy on the other side of the bridge and of course the 2 guys down at the dock on the river. I was pleased with my infiltration so much I shot him with the pistol through the window from the front of the lodge, forgetting it would trigger numerous troops to spawn out front. I immediately tossed a couple nades and scurried around back of the lodge after getting off some MP-5 rounds. Being on Infamous I had taken quite a bit of damage though. Of course this is when I discovered the guy at the other end of the bridge was still there because my back of the lodge sanctuary was greeted with his gunfire across the ravine.

After quickly proceeding to take him out I took cover by the ammo cache behind the lodge waiting for moments to sneak around the corner and nail a few guys here and there. I was quite surprised frankly that even the early morning light had them guessing where I was, though I'd probably killed all the ones that initially saw where I ran with the nades and gunfire. As others discovered where I was and came out back I nailed them from near the ammo cache and took their ammo and nades. In tossing the nades and Molotovs, I finally got the remaining 4 or 5 guy's attention. One was so frantic he strafed too close to the cliff while trying to get to me and I heard him scream as he fell.

When there was 3 or so left they were all so frantic I got that classic dialog where one says to advance and the other says, "I'm not going anywhere!" Then one says "Where is he?", and another answers "Who?",..."The guy that just attacked us!" I tell ya the dialog alone is enough to keep you in stitches some times. They finally came around the back of the house one by one and I shot em dead with the MP-5. I was almost upset it was over, even though I feared for my life had they all rushed at once.

Since you mention it, what is the deal with the locked checkpoints? It seemed like they became "unlocked" when you find their ammo/medical points, but didn't affect gameplay. Was it just a 100% completion thing to do?

Anyways, one simple moment I remembered was when I first used IEDs to blow up an arms convoy, watching from a strange tower in a field. Explosions were very satisfying, but the fire spread to the grass and I had to jet out of there pretty quick. Its funny because I used the tactic all the time in Crysis, but it didn't occur to me here until halfway through the game.

Another ninja-mission that COULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME IF THE GAME WORKED PROPERLY was when you had to sabotage some greenhouse equipment before your buddy dropped defoliant. I sniped the guards with my dart rifle, went back to a point where I saw an ammo box, came back and saw all the guards magically respawned. Tried to snipe them again but my rifle broke. I had to go down, sneaking around the rows of plants and planted a bomb on the machine. Then of course they all saw me somehow and I had to run out while popping syringes and madly hitting the detonator.

The unlocking of the checkpoints only serves to show you on the map what supply type it carries. Of course that info is not too valuable considering shortly after unlocking it you still have guards to contend with before getting to those supplies. Other than that I'm sure it's just achievement stats.

I haven't used IED's much, I consider them not as exciting. My way of taking out convoys is picking a stretch of road they cross that is edged by trees, steep hills or other obstacles that make it hard for them to drive around a Jeep that I park sideways as a road block. I then crouch behind the middle of it looking through the open doors and wait for them to come. Sometimes I'll go for a tough shootout and use only the MP-5 or assault rifle, usually I just toss a nade at the target vehicle after taking out the guys in the lead escort vehicle.

Once I had a particularly interesting time near dusk when I used a buggy as a road block just up the hill from the place with silos where you blow up the propane tank. As it wasn't a good spot for an ambush, things went bad and I had to resort to running to a nearby rock and tossing Molotovs after exhausting my nades. The fire ended up consuming the target vehicle but I still wasn't out of the woods as guys at the railyard heard and came running. I finally took them all out with barely enough ammo left.

Of course when the convoy involves making a hit on a VIP vs taking out a truck, things get interesting. Last night on such a mission via the radio tower I went to the airfield at night and killed the sniper in the tower and setup the road block just after where they cross the stream. I sniped the driver of the lead vehicle, then tossed a nade at the VIP's SUV while backing up. All vehicles then exploded and the SUV went flipping about 20' into the air in a spectacular fashion. It was esp cool to see up close at night. To my amazement the VIP was still alive! My crappy picked-up sniper rifle then jammed and I had to run for cover behind a rock at a nearby safehouse I'd unlocked. Quite a firefight ensued as the guys from the airfield buildings heard and came running.

As for the greenhouse, it's pretty easy to just go in at night and sneak from the end of it opposite the pumps. You really only have to silent pistol headshot the one guy over by the low tower that often hears you and comes looking. He can't see you at night while you're hiding in the bushes and can easily be shot at fairly close range. Then I snuck a little ways into the greenhouse and tossed a nade to it's other end. I escaped quickly and unscathed because I was of course right near the trail you take to assist the downed pilot. A guy saw me running up the trail and alerted the others, but no one landed a shot on me.

Well probably my most epic moment was when I tackled one of my most hated guard points.

I drove straight through it from the north alerting all the guards another truck pulled in from the south entrance I drove past it and jumped out into the grass, I threw one grenade that landed underneath the truck that pulled in and another under a parked car within seconds the whole camp was in flames, gas canisters flying through the air and ammo piles were going off, brilliant luck.

Got back in my truck and drove off.

Probably my mose epic moment was when I was driving a patrol truck through a jungle area, trying to get away from THREE other trucks following, and peppering me with bullets the entire time of course. I swerved around a fallen tree, and looked back to see if maybe they were stupid enough to hit it. As I looked back, I saw one of the trucks hit the tree, and use it as a ramp. The truck must have gotten 20 feet of air somehow, lol. But the great thing is, it landed on another one of the trucks that were following me, making them both fly off a cliff.

I'm driving to some sort mansion thing to turn off the radio antenna or something. I get past first set of guards without much trouble. I follow the turn and find a guy in a truck trying to ram into me front first. I swerved out of the way just in time, and the truck blew up behind me.

Yesterday I couldn't help but laughing about the most Epic FAIL!
By Jeep I approached a guard post.. right in front I toggle to turret-mode, ready to mow the lawn. The outpost guards (4 guys) run to the middle of the road and start shooting, when I see one of them crappy little cars gassing up behind them to ram me, but before he reaches close enough to me he kills all the other guys in one clean bowling strike!

Epic for me in that I was looking back and thought 'whoa.'

When I got my USAS12 shotgun [close range pwnage, overkill] and went to do the mobile radio station mission. I went into that village and killed everyone. 10 guys rushed me early on, took em all out with headshots. The guy on the platform with the RPG, I sniped him with my Eagle, though. It was just like an epic carnage moment.
