Default FEAR Combat install

Recently built another game rig and installed FEAR Combat. Everything went normal but when the multiplayer Sierra load screen comes up, it just sits there...never progresses to the server query page. Anyone ever hear of this problem? I have played for years and made numerous installs and this is the first I've seen it. All US game/patch btw. I hate to have to re-download everything and re-install, but without any more ideas I have no choice.

Cool Re: FEAR Combat install

Nice pictures of your computer, but they are useless here. Anyway, try this:
  • right click on .exe file (not shortcut) and choose Properties
  • go to Compatibility tab
  • enable Compatibility mode and set it for Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
  • disable Desktop Composition
  • enable running with Administrative privilege level
  • click OK, run the game directly from that .exe file and see if that helped

Tried your fix but no change in behaviour. Deleted and re-downloaded/installed and still same results.

Cool Re: FEAR Combat install

Yeah, I figured it won't help. There is another possible solution, but I doubt it will do any good either. Try disabling USB (HID Compliant) devices that you don't use through the Device Manager. It sounds weird, but try it.
