I decided to depart from my normal styles of video and try something completely different with this project. In experimenting with the opening scene I found you can if you want shortcut the triggering of Alma and Fettel appearing by the path you choose. Then I got the wild idea to use a combination of the two. What followed is a bizarre mix of humor and special effects, which are the theme for this video. I tried my best to include either or both in every action sequence as well as some ad-libbing and creative editing in the opening scene, which admittedly is a bit of satire about FEAR's effect on me scare wise. Hope none of you take offense, it's just my odd sense of humor. After reinstalling the game due to crashes to desktop at loadscreens and checkpoints while recording and saves loading with graphic glitches, I was now experiencing problems with everything looking darker than it normally does. I seemed to find a way to overcome the darkness via creating a new profile, though too late for this video. I also found that v1.07 does not show the graphic glitches loading saves like v1.08 does. The initial cause of the crash was found to be attempting to record the transition between loadscreens and the level start. I'm hoping using a different level load key or stopping Fraps before the "Click to continue" prompt will avoid it. The darkness seemed to work anyway, as there are many occult scenes and the mood of the music is rather melancholy and haunting. I did bump the in game gamma up a couple notches though, so it's not too bad. Mode is Extreme, no scratch, level time 6:57, (6:30 or so had I not missed a pickup), music is Silent Screams, by Halford, former lead singer of Judas Priest. As is the norm with all my latest videos, the Xvid codec, now a WMP plug-in, is required to view this. You can get it here: http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ Once again the image quality came out easily well enough to zoom it to 200% in WMP. Bad Water: Interval 03 (110MB)

Thanks Merrick, the tools I use limit me to what I can do editing wise so I try to sometimes compensate for it with a good old visual effects video. FEAR's awesome SloMo visuals offer a variety of ways you can do that, but getting consistent results from the physics of the game is very hit and miss. I wasn't sure the humor used in the opening scene would come off well, but so far viewers have seemed to get a kick out of it. I'll definitely continue making these until I finish with Unauthorized Personnel, as I started with Afterimage. Then I'll start making some Extraction Point vids, though they may not be viewable at 200% like these. I will likely have to adjust res settings down for it so 640x400 may be the largest res they can be viewed at.

Thanks Cliffy, yeah, FEAR's effects allow for some pretty gruesome captures, though as mentioned, the results are hit and miss. It's quite hard at times to get any kind of "severance payback" so to speak. Quite often I've had to scrap clips that contained awesome dismemberments due to one or two guys exploding into blood clouds or their necks stretching like rubber, which just looks too strange and unrealistic. There's a mod someone made that eliminates the blood cloud effect and makes it much more likely that you'll get a dismemberment, though I worry it will conflict with my no ambient mod. The no ambient mod is needed to mute out background ambient music so it doesn't bleed through the music I add. I kinda think using such a mod takes away from the work put into the videos though, as it's a special effects gimmick that isn't part of the stock game. As for a sequel, if you mean another of this type, yes, I plan to do at least one more with this theme. These latest vids are actually "prequels" though, I started making FEAR vids at the Afterimage level. I've only 7 more levels to do to complete my set of FEAR full level videos. Exeunt Omnes is next, and Unauthorized Personnel will be the last of the series, then it's on to Extraction Point. Thanks again for watching guys, stay tuned for the next one. I try to time it so they're posted about when the previous one drops off the front page, but this forum has slowed down considerably so lately they get put up before that. Here's my FEAR video collection on my Filefront filepage. The previous ones seem to be downloading considerably faster. http://hosted.filefront.com/FragManiac/1521266
