I'm looking for a good Blu-Ray player. I currently have a Sony BDP-S300 and yes, while it plays Blu-Ray discs, it takes ages to load a disc (Sony, when the loading bar is at the end, the disc should play, it shouldn't have to do a loading bar several times, lol :p ), its huge, and it doesn't come with BD-Live.

I got it from ebay for £75. Its my own damn fault for not doing research on the model before buying.

So, to reiterate. Looking for a quick loading Blu-Ray player, must play most formats, preferably region-free and with BD-Live. Same applies for a possible Blu-Ray PC drive.

Well?

(PS: Do I need anything extra for a Blu-Ray PC drive? Like some kind of HD converter or something? I don't have a clue what is needed for a Blu-Ray PC drive).

Hello techies,

Well, it seemed that my notebook started acting strange ever since yesterday... without a reason at all. It keeps freezing up every once in a while and it's quite annoying, especially when I try to play a game, or browse the forums. It's even freezing up while I'm writing this thread at the moment. So, I've been wondering; are there any other possible solutions beside reinstalling Windows? I've never overclocked my GPU (or anything, at all), my drivers are fully up-to-date and my power supply does deliver enough Voltage to prevent freeze-ups, as far as I'm aware. I've also did several virus scans as well as registry and disk defrags.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because this is seriously annoying the hell out of me.

Nearly 60 bugs in Diablo 2, and many more.

This is a new thread related to an older thread of mine here, http://forums.filefront.com/tech-dis...ard-fried.html

I'm begining to get extremly frustrated, unpatient and my computer will soon be in flames and in pieces all over the road. We all thought my problem was solved (please check in link posted above) but it's back. It's doing the exact same thing as before, starting on for a second then going blank. But this time it actually started up once and came of up a pop-up saying "Your computer could not start, checking for solutions". That clearly did shit all and my problem still continues. I've noticed a new thing aswell, when the screen goes blank my fan (not sure which one, video, motherboard, or PS fan) goes extremly loud.

Please can someone help me solve this problem! I really want to get back to playing CoD: MW2!
BTW: I highly, highly reccommend to everyone, never buy a Gateway computer. Once I fix this problem I'm getting rid of mine straight away and starting brand new.

_*PC Perspective - Lucid HYDRA 200 Multi-GPU Technology Performance Preview (http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=815)*_

While this technology is...

PC Perspective - Lucid HYDRA 200 Multi-GPU Technology Performance Preview

While this technology is a bit revolutionary as mentioned in the article, it's also looking to be a bit of a novelty vs practical. I would wager to guess most considering multi GPU even as an upgrade path vs initial setup are going to want to go with same GPU vs dissimilar ones to get the best performance, what gamer wouldn't? It's not hard even a yr or two after building to find the same GPU you started with, and at an even better price. The exception would be someone starting out with a GPU that is already a gen old or more, and that's not that common in gaming enthusiast rigs that use multi GPU. Smart gaming rig builders would opt to avoid that scenario.

This would take away the primary "advantage" of Hydra technology, and even that so called advantage is not showing good scaling. You add that to the fact that performance is hit and miss as far as games that play better or worse than SLI/Crossfire even with similar GPUs, and what you have is near equal performing technology for all intents and purposes at the disadvantage of being already WAY behind on title support. Don't get me wrong, initially I was optimistic that games wouldn't have to be compatible with this tech and that even dissimilar GPUs would scale well, but that appears not to be the case. And quite frankly, they almost NEED that to be the case to compete getting started so late in the multi GPU game.

I was starting to get skeptical when I saw that MSI's "flagship" Big Bang gaming MB was a P55 vs X58. Sorry if that sounds pessimistic. I really wanted to like, no LOVE this tech, but the realist in me says it's not looking what it's cracked up to be. It's no doubt more practical a project than Nvidia's PhysX, but I'm not sure it will be best used in gaming. The end of the article is where it really started sounding practical IMHO. So, in summary I now see why Nvidia and ATI did not pursue marketing scaling with dissimilar GPUs or even profiles other than split or alternating frame rendering (w/ the exception of ATI's Supertiling). Looks like they've already done their homework and saw it as a waste of time.

All I want to know is will "he" be able to play games like Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, Empire: Total War, and games along those lines, maxed out on graphics on a widescreen computer? 1600x1000 I think or something along those lines.
I have a BFG 8600GT OC 512mb.
