Very Strange ET Mapping Problem Aight, here's my problem... I'm trying to start making a map for ET, I've already made a few for RTCW. I go ahead and start putting some ideas together and building a few rooms, etc. So, I go ahead and look for my "info_player_start" entity. I notice it's not there, so I make my team_CTF_redspawn and team_CTF_bluespawn entities guessing they will probably work themselves. I go ahead and compile my map, it compiles fine. Go ahead and load ET, sv_pure 0, g_gametype 2, blah blah blah. I get an error message saying I have no spawn point. NOW, what I do next causes my major problem: I make a info_intermission entity, and rename the classtype to info_player_start! Try to compile, and... The entire program crashes, so I opened it up, tryed once more even using different compile options, and still nothing. I JUST EVEN COPIED AND PASTED MY BRUSHES, INTO A NEW MAP FILE, and still nothing! I just re-installed GTK Radient, and still crashes when I try to compile! What can I do mates? :uhm: Thanks. |
Re: Very Strange ET Mapping Problem Did you try making a info_player_deathmatch entity. Off Hummer's Basic Map Making ET Tutorial... (Sure hope this helps you out) Quote:

I had just found hummer's thread right after I posted this, heh. Except I've found a new problem. :o The game crashes when I go into limbo. I've tried doing the gamecoordinatemaxs and whatever, but it still crashes. :( BTW, I had to compile my map using GTKRadiant 1.2.11's Q3Map2.exe compiler! I used the compile settings for RTCW, and it still worked with ET! Just was wondering if the crash might be related to that. Because GTKRadiant crashes when I use the other compile options. like BSP -meta, what hummer suggested for the first room. |
Re: Very Strange ET Mapping Problem I am having the same problem as opteron, my game crashes whn i try to go into limbo. Is there anyone who can help us out here? thanks |
Re: Very Strange ET Mapping Problem same problem here with limbo but even when map start and i'm in spectator i cant see walls whats wrong? |
Re: Very Strange ET Mapping Problem I am having the same limbo crashing problem after i start a custom made map. I see this thread has died. But I see no one has replied. Just wondering if anyone found out anything. |
Re: Very Strange ET Mapping Problem You have to put in values for the mapcoordsmins and mapcoordsmaxs into the "worldspawn"-entitiy. These values have to describe a square. You can get these values by looking on the x / y - view. mapcoordsmins = upper left corner mapcoordsmaxs = lower right corner So as an example: key: mapcoordsmins value: -512 512 key: mapcoordsmaxs value: 512 -512 |
Re: Very Strange ET Mapping Problem do they HAVE to describe a square? BTW which axis comes first? The X axis or the Y? |
Re: Very Strange ET Mapping Problem The coordinates have to describe a square. X axis first then Y axis. There's a Level Designers Reference shipped with GTKRadiant. You will find this under Help menu. Sock (a level designer of Splashdamage) has an enhanced LDR (with map + script examples available): http://www.planetquake.com/simland/ldr1_1/ Command Maps: http://www.planetquake.com/simland/l...ommandmaps.htm Btw at http://www.splashdamage.com you will find forums that deal with level design of ET. |
