Default Morrowind.ini

I'm playing Morrowind, obviously, and I modified my Morrowind.ini to match that of the darker nights mod. I proceeded to launch the game, and there was absolutely no difference. I was suspicious, so I deleted the file, and the game still works. What gives? Does Morrowind hide some top secret backup? I'm running it on Windows Vista, this really has me stumped. It shouldn't run at all with out that file. Thoughts?

Go to your main partition, and go to "Organize". Choose "Folder and Search Options" and click on the "View" tab. Scroll down and you should see the header "Hidden files and folders". Choose the option to show all hidden files and apply. Try and see if your Morrowind installation shows some .ini file. Because, as you said yourself, Morrowind shouldn't be able to run without the needed .ini.

Hm, I tried that, thanks for the reply though. I searched too, nothing. I'm thinking it has something to do with Morrowind Graphics Extender. I installed Morrowind in a different directory, deleted its .ini, and it won't run, but the one running with MGE does.

Then perhaps the MGE itself contains an .ini as well? I guess I'll check it out once I'm back at home.
