Default Morrowind won't start

Well hello..straight to the point:
I have the morrowind triple pack (morrowind, tribunal and bloodmoon). I used to have it installed a few years ago and it worked fine...now when I go to play it the windows error report thing comews up and even if I send the problem it doesn't help...any help from you guys please?
I ran that direct x diagnostic and I found this:
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 TCP/IP Service Provider' is missing or damaged.
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 IPX Service Provider' is missing or damaged.
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 Modem Service Provider' is missing or damaged.
The registry information for the service provider 'DirectPlay8 Serial Service Provider' is missing or damaged.
You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version.

I reinstalled direct x but it didnt help..

I'm about as clueless as you are on this, but if I were you, I would re-install the game first, then re-install the video drivers. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you.

What Operating System are you running?
Try a Re-install of Morrowind, then Re-install Videocard drivers.
If that doesn't help, I'm stumped.

I don't think a reinstall would help if the entry is damaged. You may have to manually seek it out, but I don't think I'll be much of a help in doing that, as I can barely figure out how to gain access to the system. A google search turned up this:
Error messages when you try to connect to matchmaking multiplayer game

Though seeing as Morrowind is offline, I can't see why it would need those entries. Either way, I suggest trying the suggestions in that article. Even the smallest corruption in a small area of a file can cause it to cease working.
