Well I'm sure they'll cater for fans needs like they did in Morrowind, otherwise there wouldn't be fans...I'm not sure about any problems on my PC yet, got to mug the postman tomorrow and hope he has it in his sack. (The game I mean lol)

I'm not so sure about that. There has been no response whatsoever from Bethesda on the host of technical problems people are having, and as I understand it, they aren't even helping people out by email or phone. It's like they went on vacation or something.

Bear in mind that when a game releases, you generally hear more negative feedback than good. People who don't experience any issues are not likely to register and post. So it's hard to quantify how widespread any known issues are.

And as mentioned, a game this complex is bound to have some tech issues at first. But not to worry, they will be addressed in due time.

On a side note, I've played about 5 hours and it runs pretty smooth on my (run of the mill) system. No crashes, no major slowdowns, all and all it's pretty stable for me. But I'm also not trying to run it at uber settings. This game requires a beast of a pc to run it at high settings.

It certainly does. I've had a number of problems, although I must admit they've been minor compared to the horrible CTD's and stuff I've been hearing about. The worst part has been trying to find the right balance between graphics and performance. I think I finally got that mouse lag issue worked out. I wonder if it's caused by a memory leak or something. Anyway, I'm off to play Oblivion in a moment or two.

As well as suggestions in other threads you could try completely lowering your detail settings and gradually buil each one up to see what is the cause of the problem. I know it would take a long time but if it cures it then you can have lots of fun!
