Default Common Problems

Here are some common problems you may experience in the game.

1. The game crashes on loading
A. Update your graphic drivers, DirectX, and patch the game. Check your mod list as well. Some mods will require you to start a new game, and loading it into an existing game may cause it to crash.

2. Names aren't appearing over my icons
A. Move your mouse over your character portrait.

3. Really bad FPS.
A. You may have a mod that requires lots of RAM and system resources, have a highly detailed texture pack, or your computer can't handle Morrowind. here are the specifications to the game

The minimum specifications are:

* Windows Me/98 128MB RAM
* Windows XP/2000 256MB RAM (Windows NT NOT supported)
* 500mhz Intel Pentium III, Celeron, or AMD Athlon processor.
* 8x CD/DVD-ROM Drive
* 1 GB free hard disk space
* Windows swapfile
* DirectX 8.1 (included)
* 32MB Direct3D Compatible Video card and DirectX 8.1 compatible driver
* DirectX 8.1 Compatible Sound Card
* Keyboard, Mouse

Supported Video Card Chipsets:
NVIDIA GeForce 4
NVIDIA GeForce 3
NVIDIA GeForce 2
NVIDIA GeForce 256
NVIDIA TNT2
ATI Radeon 8500
ATI Radeon 7500
ATI Radeon 7200

4. I'm getting things that look gray or have a yellow diamond with an exclamation mark.
A. You are missing textures or meshes. This is common with bad installations of mods.

5. I'm getting warning messages when Morrowind loads up to the menu.
A. This is common with mods. You can fix this through using Testool and other Morrowind Tools, but not all go away. Even the Developers has this problem.

6. My game won't launch anymore
A. Check your mod list for conflicting mods. If all comes to worst, then you must reinstall.

7. Everything in my game is doubled!
A. This is a problem you get with mods when you disable one or change the load error. There is no solution to this other than using commmands or Wyre Mash.

I will list more common problems as I come across them.

A problem lots of people have, and sadly there seems to be problems with morrowind's code with processors. Is it crashing every 10 minutes or more like every 2 hours?

Ok guys, I`ve looked at the list but the nearest I can find is the frame rate prob. But my PC is way above the specs required outlined, and besides it`s not a frame rate problem as such.
The problem happens with a fresh install of MW without the 2 expansion packs as well.

Every thing looks ok until I try to move about in the game. I move the mouse and nothing happens for a few seconds, then the view will slowly swing round, but it`s not jerky it`s as smooth as hell, sort of like walking about in treacle. I`ve even tried the latest patches. My system specs are:

AMD64/3000+ Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard.
1Gig Geil dual channel DDR ram
nVidia GeForce FX5500/128 AGP8
Soundblaster 5.1 Digital PCI.

The game used to work fine on my old PIII/750 w/256mb SD-Ram and Geforce 4MX AGP4 with only 64mb.

And here`s the p@*%take. The game works fine on my nephews E-Machine with Intel Celeron 2.7, 512mb Ram and GeForce FX5200 with the 2 expansion packs and loads of plug-ins installed.

WTF is going on?
