28 Days Later

Okay, I'm a huge movie buff. I heard that over in the UK this movie is already out on DVD/VHS, but here in the United States, it is just now being released to the theaters. I downloaded this movie from our little friend beginning with a K ;)the other night and I watched the first half that night and the second tonight. I have to say, I give it a big thumbs up.

The movie was also shot with a digital camera (not sure about the specifics on that, but I hear that's about what it was). It is very good and I recommend it to anyone who is wanting to see a good movie and doesn't know what to see. Or you could be cheap like me and download it off of our friendly K. :D

[edit: didn't realize that Ka_Zaa was censored]

Bah, I keep meaning to see that, missed it in the cinema somehow... if you're interested in other recent UK-grown flicks there's an Aliensesque werewolf movie called Dog Soldiers which is actually pretty scary stuff despite the poor quality title. :)

I'm a sucker for horror flicks. I might check that one out, thanks, Vertigo. :)

Vertigo July 1st, 2003 11:49 AM

Np. :) Although I think the makers of DS are worryingly overkeen on.. erm.. innards... may want to watch it on an empty stomach. :P

Amanda July 1st, 2003 03:28 PM

hehe Thanks for the advice. :D

I saw that movie and I have to say that it has to be the worst movie ever made. Someone should make a worst movie ever award and give it to the people that made that movie.:( :fistpunch: :smack:  :furious: :n0e:

Vertigo July 7th, 2003 01:52 PM

I just saw it yesterday too actually... I feel inclined to agree with you there Nateanite. =/

FearFactory July 7th, 2003 05:17 PM

I liked Rain of Fire

tenkaistar July 10th, 2003 11:42 PM

I saw it and I thought it was ok. It wasn't bad for it's genre.

Deimos July 19th, 2003 07:47 PM

I think it could have been better

Vikki July 24th, 2003 12:37 AM

i think the way it was filmed was wonderful - it wasnt the typical 'horror flick' - and they did a good job with conveying the 'rage' in the hosts..

Peeping Tom August 2nd, 2003 11:01 AM

I love anything containing Zombies! Movies, survival horror, you name it, i'll see it. BTW, anyone see Night of The Living Dead 2? LOL, why do they want brains now, but before tey were after flesh? And WTF was up with that thing in the basement? His voice was soooooo funny.....

Vertigo August 2nd, 2003 05:23 PM

Seriously can someone please tell me what the deal is with zombies? They're slow, stupid and predictable, I just can't seem to see the fright-factor. Give me a drooling, acid-blooded xenomorph over a hungry undead any day of the week! :D

Or a Freddy Kruger(sp?)!

Re: 28 Days Later

28 Days was an awesome film on the big screen. The shots of a deserted London were disconcerting. Can't see it transferring too well to DVD/Video though.
On the Freddy Krueger issue:-
There's a film out now called Freddy vs Jason (from Friday 13th) sounds cool. Who will win? (don't spoil it.)

I loved 28 Days Later. Twas the first really scary movie I've seen in a long time.

Re: 28 Days Later

It was the first that (I think) actually explained Zombies - and it made sense.
Did you jump when the car alarm went off?

Re: 28 Days Later

i think the part that was the most disturbing was the man caged up in the 'soldier's base'. he was frightening, and when he got loose, i was quite scared i will admit.

I /just/ finished watching that on DVD... it was pretty well done - the conceptualisation of the werewolves was pretty cool, and they didn't scrimp on the gore :D
Shame about how predictable it was in the end.
Best bit:
"There is no spoon!" :D :D

As for Zombie movies - The Night of the Living Dead is a classic. Dawn of the Dead is a must. Day of the Dead is fn marvellous. Return of the Living Dead is ruined by the '80s. :D
28 Days Later is fantastic for it's genre. Acting is good, cinematics are pretty wicked, and the sense of isolation (Empty World kinda stuff) is unbelievable. It's derivative of George Romero's 'Dead' series though. You gotta watch those.

And if you like Peter Jackson, get 'Brain Dead' (Renamed 'Dead Alive' for American Audiences) from your video store. Nothing like eating your ear from your custard :D
