...putting Resident Evil to shame. Sure, RE looks better, but this game is a great creep-out. The insanity effects are awesome, blood dripping from the walls, doors on ceilings, your character whimpering, "This can't be happening..."
WOOHOO! Finally beat "Eternal Darkness," and only after several eves of late-nite game play. Well, I've seen one of the three endings, at least. There are three different paths in the game, depending on a choice you make early on.
Wow. That was one hell of a game. I have every intention of beating it again on another path, to see the different monster-types and cinemas.
Everything about the game is a class act. From the storytelling (a real nod to all Lovecraft fans... like me) to the music, to just a little moments--like playing a church organ while bombs blast outside the cathedral. I cannot recommend this game enough to all y'all. F "Resident Evil," get this one instead. Talk about creepy.
Once I can afford a Game Cube I plan on making this one of my first purchases...it sounds like my kind of game! Right now, though, I'm all about Warcraft
I found this in an earlier post of mine, from last September:
"Eternal Darkness? Uh, thanks but no thanks. This N64 port is almost forgettable in the wake of Capcom's RE announcement. The game wasn't 100%, but there's no way that it will touch the RE experience they were obviously shooting for. However, it's good to see the big N going for an older audience. This is an important step, but I sure wish it was with a better game. Control is so-so, the graphics are solid, yet unspectacular. (Wall textures, though, were quite nice.)"
Yeah but dude, the N64 version sucked a whole lot...I remember seeing it and just shaking my head. It looked like ass. The game has changed a LOT since those days...I mean, the gameplay, everything. I have some of that b-roll from Nintendo floating around I think. It was pretty poor.
